    Recomendation for amd HTPC

Looking to build a new HTPC and I have a couple X2's laying around that I would like to use. It would be a 6400 be, or 4800 depending on the board.

Would like to get a micro or mini, and have hdmi. What would be suggestions? I maybe use xp media center or mythdora haven't decided yet.

one of the 790GX or 780g boards.. unless you want discrete graphics.. Both do HDMI if you get the right board..

Edit: I use the Sapphire 780g board in 2 of my MCE systems.

If you use mythTV, make sure to get the more powerful processor. The program is VERY cpu hungry, especially when using a nice UI over a HD signal.

I may not use myth then as I really want to keep it a low energy consumer. Also some of the boards I am considering don't support 125w cpu.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I've had terrific luck with the Gigabyte 780G boards (S2H, DS2H) models in micro ATX form factor. I also have an HTPC running that uses the Gigabyte 690G S2H mATX mobo as well.

You can find refurbs for like $50 from ZZF, Mwave, etc. They're not huge consumers of power either. I have a BE2400 45 watt X2 in one of the 780G S2H boards, and it just produces almost no heat.

    Not sure about Windows..
Also, for a HTPC, you don't need a very powerful GPU. You can save on power consumption there too. Windows is definitely nice for the ease of setup, and the drivers are generally available. A Linux based HTPC can be a very powerful tool. It just requires a lot of work to get it working correctly.

Using a WinTV 1600 in Vista Media Center and love it. It loads all of my analog channels and digital channels.
