Best way to clean an Acrylic res?

I found an old acrylic res I bought some years ago but never used. It seems to have some "grit" on the inside walls. I've tried flushing with hot water and rinsing with vinegar but the "grit" is still there. I'm not sure what it could be since I've never used the res. It just sat on a shelf for the last couple years. I know alcohol and acrylic don't mix so what would a good choice be to clean out the inside?

    Thanks in advance.

You have a pic? maybe the res can be scratched by a toothbrush or something if someone have tried to clean it. That would explain why you can't flush it away.

    1. do not ever use alcohol.

    2. acetone is worse then alcohol.

Dishwashing detergent is my first recomendation, Let the acrylic soak in hot water first.

Dishwasher. Pot scrubber, or "sterile" hot setting. Make sure you have Jet Dry in the dishwasher.

You guys are just making fun, but I am 100 percent serious. Every MCRES and bay res I have ever had was cleaned in the dishwasher.

It may be the best way to clean those pesky Koolance reservoirs.

That's the problem with Redline Water Wetter.

I hope your dishwasher doesn't stink because it can be unsanitary. Did you at least pre wash first?

LOL yeah a little but I knew you were serious, I have seen that suggestion from other places as well, not the Jet Dry part, but using the dish washer. Never tried it myself. I just used a little dish soap and a skinny bottle washing brush to get inside.

It was fine when I bought it, it just seems to have accumulated something over the years that it sat. I tried to take a pic but it doesn't come out clear.

Yah I know enough not to use alcohol, I'll try some dishwashing detergent.
