    D70s pictures

Accumulated enough shots with D70s to maybe be worth making a thread of it, critiques always welcome. Hadn't gone shooting for a bit before taking these pics, so really rusty on photography. I need to go out and shoot more

Lens is an 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX with a Hoya 67mm UV filter.

    Me:

    Bro:

    Two flower pics:

Should've shot these later in the day, when the light isn't so flat and dead:

From the same day as above:

    Late in the day:

Even later (sorry for bad composition):

Attempt at landscape shot (not my strong point):

    Near Downtown Vancouver:

Seconds after I took this picture, a guy with a bigger Nikon decided to come along and take a picture of the fish too. Find your own shots, rich hobbyist! (Of course, over a thousand tourists probably already took the same picture...)

Nice shots. Landscapes are hard, but not because of anything technical. It's more patience, timing and a good dose of luck. It also helps to be an early riser as nothing beats sunrise for photo taking conditions.

D70 was my first too, until I lent it to my father for an evening...now I have a D80 :P

Did your father pay for the D80?

Yep. I lent the D70 to him on the condition that if he broke it he'd be replacing it (he has a history of destroying every camera he comes into contact with, usually just point & shoots, but he's gone through 5-6 digitals in the last couple years. Now he only buys those ruggedized water resistant Olympus cameras). Though since it was brand new and an upgrade, it also became my birthday present (timing was convenient).

Nice new shots. Grab yourself a nice flashlight (I really like Fenix lights) and you can start playing around with 'painting with light'.

Very fun. You can also try "light writing" at night. Set up camera for long exposure and draw in that air with candle/lighter/flashlight. Very cool results!
