Is the 2500+ Barton right for me?

Well I haven't read up on any computers since I got my system setup almost a year ago and I need a little help here.

    Here is my current setup:

    AMD 1600+
    Abit KD7-E
    Radeon 9700 Pro
    Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
    512 MB Corsair XMS 3200 C2
    TTGI-420SS Power Supply
    Seagate Cuda IV 40GB

    It's cooled by a Maze 3, Maxi-Jet MP 900, Heatercore, and 2 120mm 85 CFM fans.

I plan on only replacing the 1600 with the Barton 2500, are there any foreseeable problems I could get from switching to the Barton? Thanks

EDIT: Also, I'm planning on putting the 1600+ in my pops computer, if I were to get the retail Barton, would the heatsink fit the 1600+ and a ECS K7S5A?

The 2500+ retail heatsink is a copper core model, so it should work fine with the 1600+. Definitely so if you are going to run at stock speed anyway.

I don't have any experience with the KD7, but you will probably have to update BIOS to get Barton compatability if you aren't using a BIOS version that supports one already.

You might just need to update the bios. You should be fine after that.
