with my rigs it's usually the other way around... I can fold all nite, yet lockup (mainly due to shader clocks) in the 3Dmarks... pretty high fan speed you are running there mate... my 260 SOC card could handle the original folding at home at 750/1654/1300 at 50ish fan speed.. keeping GPU temps sub 70°c... pretty amasing cards these Gigabytes
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

For those of you who like me had their 280GTX stuck at 702/1404 (core/shader) I finally found a solution at least in my case.

I found that what was limiting me was actually the core, up until now i had always adhered to the 1:2 (shader clock= core clockx2) rule and thus my next try was 729/1458 which passes furmark+atitool but fails a fullscreen GPUTool artifact scan after around 5min at defult voltage of 1.187. I recently tried just upping the shaders resulting in 702/1458 which passed 40min of GPUTool at 1.100v, then I found a previously unknown core strap (to me) of 713Mhz.

With the core at 713 and the shaders at 1458 I can pass 1hr of GPUTool fullscreen at 1.148v (slightly higher voltage due to the increase in core clock) with max temp of 80C (ambient of 26C).

Note that all of these tests had the memory running at 1323Mhz (2646Mhz DDR). Also in my experiance the GPUTool fullscreen artifact test is more reliable than Furmark, it is basicaly a revised version of the atitool artifact scan but it puts more load on the GPU running fullscreen.

Yanked my brothers MSI GTX 260 216 to play with. Factory OC model 648/1404/1050 stock. Any OC on the shader = crash Not quite sure what the issue there is. Stuck at 702/1404/1161. Much faster than my 5770 but the stock shader is bugging me.

Not sure what the issue with 3dmark03 is, but everything else is fine overclocking the shader

Fantastic score madmax999 though your CPU is a little low at that speed. Try it at 4600 and see if your CPU score climbs.

    Thnx m8
My CPU score is low because i disabled HT. When the HT was enabled i was getting ~20 points lower score so i decided to bench with HT off

My max stable @ games with Gigabyte GTX280, stock cooled, stock bios

With extreme push from Furmark it goes up to 100C and then (for safety reasons i think) goes back to 2D Clocks (it needs restart to get fixed). In games (Crysis, AION, Mass Effect 2, Batman Asylum) there is no problem (weird).

With higher clocks i got artifacts in both furmark and games :/

This is a Vantage run of my Gigabyte GTX-260OC, not the Super Overclock. This one comes clocked at 650/1400/1000 and is $20 cheaper. It seems like a good overclocker how does it comper to the Super OC model?

sorry for picking up an old school thread.

I have been experiencing with overclocking my GTX260.

In fact GPU-z recognizes it as a GTX280, which is good for me

So far i have managed to achieve this:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/2awxv/

    CLOCK: 785MHz - 15%
    MEMORY: 1415MHz - 16%
    SHADERS: 1795MHz - 23%

    The default clocks are:

    CLOCK: 680MHz
    MEMORY: 1225MHz
    SHADERS: 1458MHz

As in concern to temperature, i am still doing quite well, the gpu is folding at its max and the temps are not going over 40ºC

I am using MSI Afterburner to OC the gpu. And i would like to ask a question about it. Every thread or review i see from the GTX's 260/280, or overclocking guides, doesn't say anything about the Core Voltage (mV)

And since i have no clue on overclocking, i wanted to ask you guys, why doesnt anyone mention it?

I have pushed it a little, now at: 1262mV, and since i have no idea what it does, i left if quiet.

My gpu is a BFG GTX260 H2Oc and it has a waterblock from default.

this is wrong, i see you are benching with 400 core.

    denis6902

i read that 1.2v was the max safe voltage.

    shaders 1795?wow

i want to see furmark working on it not gpuz.gpuz fails.

    Sorry for diggin this up.

What is the max safe voltage for a stock cooled (but very good airflow) GTX 280?
