It's getting better. Still needs the the "You are stable"/"You are unstable" info at the end.

It would be helpful I think if you created a box in one of the corners that said stable/unstable. You could have a stress test mode, where it automatically picked max ram, and ran the tests until it failed or you stopped it. I'm sure you can have it parse text as it's running, so if you have it full the norms after each new line, it could automatically store the first result, and on first occurrence of a different norm, let the user know that it's not stable.

I think this program would benefit from a single click execution, where you are asked 1-2 questions at most. If the user knows enough about linpack, they can probably figure out how to run it manually. This would be better where you just run it, click a button or 2, and then let it run until you close it or it fails.

Edit: Also, for a normal run, you should have a -verbose parm so that it can show all of the data, or in stress it's just a simple window with the mflops text line.

Edit2: Also, some sort of notification that if you open/close stuff it will make the results invalid.

That's usually an indication of instability.

How is opening windows media player while it's run a sign of instability?

Edit: It happened once while using almost all of my memory, completely stable system, but I think it having to use the page file for storage screwed it up.

That might be it. I should have added the line: "please close all running applications before running".

How much ram was used for you two guys?

I just remounted my sink and i lapped a little more now and used thermal right Chillfactor, I have the thermalright ultra 120 extreme.

    Now i have Q6600 @ 3.6ghz

Now after remounting sink with a PENNY under the clamp that holds the block on ..... I have solved the 10C difference in core 0-1 being 10C higher then 2-3 under full load and Idle it is now only 2-3 Difference instead of 5-6C difference.

Anyhoo .... full load running Linpack with 1.5gb of ram used as i chose half memory free which was 3006 something like that.

Anyhoo Temps stayed even now max it hit was 84-84-81-81 .... well before i did all this tonight of remounying and such Temps maxed 86-84-74-74 = 10C difference between the cores.

Now get this ... its not any worse and not any better for Linpack test results .... LOL ..... but at least more even temps now.

I will have to see how it is in 1-3 days although tey say no break in period for Chillfactor .. there is always a settle in period for all TIM being used.

I also noticed that more ram being used = more HEAT = Higher Temps.

Version 1.2 would not let me choose the 1 option to run the test. Keep saying not enough free memory, so to answer you question I used option 2 which is about 1214mb used (1/2 free ram).

I think I can used my max of 2110mb (out of 3326mb) with version 1.1 (the most this program will let me), if you wait a bit I will post my max temp there.

edit: here you go @ the highest memory used (2110mb) that this program allowed

Linpack said not enough memory because the 32-bit version of Linpack can't use that much. You'll need to switch to a 64-bit OS for a more accurate test.

Cool thanks for the new version
I shall test this when I get home, for "stability" I have been doing 7 tests on 3200MB of RAM (which is more or less the total amount of Free RAM give or take 100 or 200MB) and then 10 tests on 512MB of RAM. All values match up vertically (going down the list) so I am assuming stability.
67C on Core 2 very hot indeed. Prime95 after 4hours only reached 63C on Core2 of 4 (my hottest Core).

This thing heats my CPU to hot, 86C!!!! My rig is already hot under prime95 small fft's(60C) and no way I have room for more heat. Looks like I am keeping to the old school way for now, or at least tell I get better cooling, but if I do get better cooling then I am pushing my rig even harder and still won't ever ever need this program.

BTW, If I was running at 86C for about 3 mins, I did not hurt my CPU did I?

I did a default test to check temps only and they went from 40 to 55°C. Nothing dramatic, which means my cooling is good (its the ambient which is hot)
