I've ran both 1024, 4096 and max with 25 reps each twice no issues with 4 threads. I can't do 8 without issues. This is with HT off ( is there even a reason to do more than 4 threads without HT anyways? ) So far Prime and OCCT have shown no issues so...

I've never used linpack in another package so I'll have to try that.

I second Chickenfeed. No issues either at Very High 4 threads 20 runs with IBT 2.3. Haven't tried 8 threads.

EDIT: Only works on auto. Not 4 threads. Although I read that auto is supposed to issue 4 threads...

    I'll post up the results.

I set it to maximum 8 threads and 10 passes.

    Nice program

I have something strange happening though. I have NAV 2010 on all my machines and on one of them the NAV detects IBT as malicious and puts it in quarantine. I can turn off NAV and it runs fine. The strange thing is that the other machine with NAV 2010 doesn't do this.

    8 threads and 5 passes with 2048MB works fine for me (Core i7 920 @ 4GHz).

Has anyone had any issues running this in Windows XP 32bit? Will I have less accurate results such as unstable results simply because I'm using 32bit?

Just a quick question, can you determine what failed based on the results? I failed on my 8th pass with the result of 1.014922e+008 at 200x21.

    Chris

I seem to be having issues with my CPU (i7 920) its effecting gaming, even wow! gfx card is 4870x2 so should not be having bad framerates. Problem is every few seconds fps hits the floor (cut by about 70%).

Reason I'm posting here is when running the burn test its not always 100% loaded, is this normal? Temps will max out at about 74C for a while then the load goes down to 25%ish and temps immediately drop to 55C ish then go back up again when fully loaded. Any ideas?

That's normal, as it balances load and power requirements in coolup/cooldown tests. If the cpu were always at 100% load with linpack, you may be seeing some burnt out chips....

okay thats good, problem must be elsewhere then. Would passing 10 runs on very high mean the chip is stable and not faulty in any way?

v2.4 is still loading my i7 920 @ 50% with HT on when threads is set on auto. Xtreme stress mode causes the system to freeze <15 second after starting, this happens at stock as well.

Yep, same here too.... also I have to reselect maximum several times before the memory amount it wants to test drops to whats available.

If IntelBurnTest were virtualized using VMWare ThinApp, should IntelBurnTest still stress test a CPU as well or better than if run without virtualization?
