I reread the review and it is clearly stated that it got scorching hot.. same here when I ran my Qx at 500FSB for a test, temps were about 10°C higher than the same clockspeed with a higher multi...

Eg I need 1.25Vcore for 4ghz ops on this Qx with 400FSB and 10 multi, with 8 multi and 500FSB I needed 0.12 more for the same, more PLL and FSB volts... which overal resulted in a faster rig but so darm hot too... so it would be better to go here wit 9 multi and 450-475ish FSB max... 9 multi (or lower) and 500FSB is insane for daily ops... not alone for ya CPU but also for ya mobo...

500 fsb on a quad core... very good is this on water?
    This is definitely pushing it.
Lets say I relax my voltages and run at 480 max, not pushing towards 500.
    480 x 8.5 = still makes 4080.
My question is.... can the E0s overclock above 4.1 on air? (Vcore around 1.35) how about on water?

I am trying to figure out if there is an absolute need for the x9 multi to decide between q9550 and q9650.

    Another question

since you are not using a really high fsb now,
would you recommend a rampage formula or a dfi lt x48 instead of the P5Q Deluxe?

Maybe they've finally smartened up with the base. So we don't have to lap them.

right you all know the q9650 won't be fully surrported till the next bios if not later so as the p5q boards still not fully upto speed nearly there. But still a few problems. I think we will make the 475-485 fsb with 9x multi. Getting mine now, it's been held at citylink since Wednesday so I can't wait to give her a blast using mx-2. So overclocking from the the get go

    Hey SNiiPE.

So how do you compare your old Q6600 with this new Quad? I'm thinking about selling my golden Q6600 1.28v for 3.6Ghz for this one...(would easily run 450x9 1.42v too).

hang on was that 4.2! Yes it was so let's see. Still some head room left to overclock her. 16 hours prime stable just need to drop voltages and fine tweek ram timings.

its much faster clock for clock, the 9650 @ 3.8 beat my 6600 @ 4.005 in w-prime speed by .1s. add in the head room to go to 4.1-4.15 24/7 on a good mobo and youve got a winner

evil-98's q9450 just died with, 1.408v. I hope you enjoy wasting your 600$ just so you can say you got yours faster than everyone else.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Where do you get a good Q9650? Did you look for a special stepping or just got anyone at Newegg?

all are e0, I was the first on here to get one (got from etech4sale.com), 1.25 VID is not the best, but it clocks fine, I say go with the cheapest you can find

sniipe dogg that's suck. I am takeing your advice unlike someone else ^^^^^^ I've dropped my vcore to 1.39 seems to be stable yet to run prime I'll do that tonight when I get home. These newer chips must be able to take 1.45 but about 1.40 tops for 24/7. But it's just luck of the draw if you get a good chip. As soon as you take it over 1.25v which intel recommends the that's your warrenty gone in a second that's the risk we take.

are you stable at these settings or is that just boot to windows. Can you run some more test but don't go over 1.45 uless you want to fork out for new board soon. I fried my gigabyte board with 1.42. So play it safe. Nice clocks
