Finally under £1 a litre now - woohoo! Now if only those communists in charge of the government, more specifically the dour faced stroke victim and captain badger, would reduce fuel duty to 1997 levels, we can actually get on with things...

"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

I'm not a technical analyst and don't put a lot of faith in it anyway. Having said that, it's normal to get several peaks in an up trend and several troughs on a down trend. The pattern can sometimes indicate the direction in the near term.

There's no way oil is going up over the next 3-6 months. Personally I think it will be under $100 for the next couple years, but I wouldn't put money on it.

China is closing 670K factories - that's right (670,000 for the US, 670.000 for others). I got this off of a blog and didn't check the source, but no one has challenged it since yesterday. The Chinese govt is trying to get people who moved to the cities for jobs to go back home - like that's going to work.

Plus producers who are used to high oill prices will pump more to cover their new spending habits - which will push prices down further.

Unless you're an oil trader, don't even try to understand the front month contract trading. You'll just get a headache.

Yeah, I don't put much (any really) faith in technical analysis either. I'd rather chew Coca leaves and consult the Oracle of Delphi.

Oil be way to weird for me, I just kinda focus on the NA natural gas market and that's crazy enough. (Me got fingers crossed for a chilly winter.)

That's wild, but believable, about the factories in China. I get the feeling things are slowing down there pretty fast.

It only updates once a day, typically, maybe twice, and it's dependant on the trading hours for the FTSE. It's up to $64.50.
