well I thought this was a dead thread along with a dead motherboard, no new bios's forever and hadn't seen many postings on here or other threads for this mobo and I just happened to come on today and saw the latest few posts and mentioning a new bios even! Anyhow I have no new results but I did flash to the new bios and the OC I had is still fine...

    e8600 @ 4.43 ghz 1.328 volts
    with a 7.5x 590 fsb

kept all my settings the same and after flashing voila it still works fine, with luck maybe I can push beyond this a bit and do even better, I'm so tired of hearing of gigabyte's ud3p and I post my results anywhere and they get compared to that motherboard usually with the pretense that mine are quite good or great even but if "ONLY" I had a ud3p they'd say I'd do even better...I'm hoping to totally dispatch that statement although they do have the best board for ram OC'ing but so far it hasn't been any limitation for me.

Yeh, show them with that ram thing.

Somebody mentioned that there are some new tweaks available in bios - which ones?

Wait!...read my own experience...yesterday i put e8600 and flash bios to 513,all fine...today 11:15 pm, the system just shut down,i check all settings, all fine, look the lcd and say first "IA",power off system, load settings default...load ,once again into windows, the system shut down again, see again lcd and this time just say "00".
solution?...pen drive with old bios rom ( 710) flash again and all fine, only bad is vcore...why?

with bios 513 4,3 ghz ---1.30 in bios load and stable

with bios 710 4,3 ghz --- 1.32 boot, but stable with 1.34 vcore

be carefull because 513 bios, shut down aleatory...for 24 hours run fine, try up if u want ,i don't recommended.

yea I can boot into Windows @5ghz, but where are your stress tests? How about showing us a screen of 100% completion Intel Burn Test 20-30 passes, along with the idle/load temperature.

LOL but ,i don't say anything about stress pass, just reach 5 ghz...with air cooling i go for sure and don't like set beyond to 1.45vcore to 24/7 use, that this chip take 5 ghz ,just talk fine about him.

yea but who brags about boot able speeds what merit does that hold in the OCing community? People in here care about stable stressed speeds and hell most complain if you don't use certain specified stress tests. What you are doing is simply child's play compared to real Over Clocking.

Also I never said anything about you saying something about stress passes, I ASKED you for them...brush up on the English reading skills.

LedHed, there are monay who dont care about stable speeds
There are two types of overclocking, daily, just to get a faster PC, and then ones which benchmark/try to get it as fast as possible, regardless.

led u must understand ALOT of the ppl in here could careless about stabilty.they like impressing each other with hi numbers on the verge of a fiery meltdown resulting in countless rmas.my pc must be stable or i dont consider a solid overclock.these guys just want 30 seconds of glory.....i dunno.i got 4ghz stable out of mine and i love my biostar board for its easy o/c options.hell u can set it on auto and it actually sets the volts for u in a decent ballpark to get u started.if u argue with him requesting stabilty screenshots u mine as well argue with everyone in here except the rare breed who actually consider a overclok STABLE with some kind of stabilty tests ran....

trust me, i have 31 years old..i never play games or casualty...use the computer to others uses more "lights" and is 100% stable for my use.

what is stable?...wrong...what is your use? are the question.

lol Good question ... ... because I was
today in day with childrens ,i use the computer to watch movies, listen music, surf the web, forums, reading pdf's, normal use.
anyway it is always good to have power there, you never know when you can use it?

that's my point,i know that if i wanna use 3dmark session or link suite,or folder@home,orthos,occt,etc i need stability and is posible that i can reduce the actual speed...but at the moment and with my use is not necesary believe me.

sounds like with your "use" there is no reason to have an OC at all, a stock speed C2D can easily do everything listed above. The only thing you are doing is shortening the life of your CPU if you aren't even using it except for music/web/pdf/normal use.

I understand you can't fully read English due to it being a second language, but trying to argue with people just because of that is no excuse; the only thing I asked for is to see if your CPU speed was actually stable or if you were just trying to grow your "31 yr old" E-Peen. I can show screens of my E8500 booting at 5.0ghz, but there is no way in hell that is a stable speed, it's just for show not usage.

if true, my previously post just are the first shots E8600, just one day of use, the talk now make me make test stability, I set out to prove stability, and as was suspected ,for to do stable the e8600 requires a little Vcore over, we know that boot only it is one thing and another complete stability.

anyway I let you catch some, which I think are quite good, it must be borne in mind that the case is closed and only air cooled.

can be stable for the E8600 at 4.5 air specify a 1.47 Vcore in bios. i will put in test different voltages and check the maximum temperature.

indeed sorry, the intention is to never "be the big E-peen", if not ,show the E8600 from the moment that are installed.

thanks railmeat,I am glad you like it, anyway, today is the second day with the e8600, it will continue to test, I stay quiet is a good 8600.

and about the topic? simply quoting and answering this question:

glide,I test some various bios for tpower i45,inclusive the unofficial, and for one or another bug, I have come back to 710,in my personal point is the last bios stable and serious for this mobo, and yes have some bugs with ocz rams is true, but i can sure that in some moment biostar can fix this bug and put another official bios "nervous" like 710.

Does anyone know if this board is compatible with the 3Ware 9650SE series PCI-E SATA controllers?
On their list of compatible motherboards the I45 is not included.

"with luck maybe I can push beyond this a bit and do even better"

WHY?a unstable 4.43 is not good enough for u?lol....clock it til something breaks,ya!!!!u must be loaded or bored.

e8600 @ 4.43 ghz 1.328 volts <--no way in hell thats 24/7 stable dude, unless your on phase.i had this board long enough with MULTPLE cpus on it and sorry i dont belive that clock with those volts.im requesting a 30min run of occt plz linpak test.i will be waiting for those screenshots.pointless to post unless u can stabilize it and prove it.anyone with decent cooling, cpu, and this board can clock real quik...stabilty means nothing to anyone anymore..
    with a 7.5x 590 fsb

Well, for starters I can and will supply you with a screenshot for I use linpack with 100% of my memory used to test stability, NOT the 90% which is the max OCCT allows least the version I had for a while...secondly, I'm on air not phase, thirdly and really most importantly...people can post whatever the hell they want, me/you/hersounds and if we want to post completely unstable OC's or not, it's really not for you to tell us what it's worth or not, particularly when no one asked and particularly not with such holier-than-thou condemnation as if there's no way you could be wrong...so, with that, I'll show you ON air the OC I told you I had is linpack stable

Unfortunately I have it saved on my pc and this site doesn't allow me to upload it that way...only by url which seems limiting but here's the page I posted 30 successful linpack runs with that system exactly as quoted...ACTUALLY the voltage was slightly less though under load as it will show...

    http://forums.techpowerup.com
    /attachment.php?attachmentid=25831&d=1242433144

and this is what I played and beat "the witcher" pc game on as well as played a few others without a hitch whatsoever, it's a good mobo and a decent e8600, simple as that, actually I think the processor is the limiting factor this board could probably go into the 600's fsb but processor dies beyond 4.45 ghz no matter what voltage/fsb/multiplier I use...fairly frustrating that it scales so well to a point then just refuses to do any more with any stability.

anyone using non-stock heatsinks on the chipset/mosfets? what should I use?
enzotech, thermalright, even a list of some compatible waterblocks would be cool.

first try with an pen drive + another bios rom or same you select

put pendrive with bios file, turn on system and press F12,select pen drive ,flash your system y pray...just all.

if not work,so yes, time to RMA.
