Nice going! I think I maxd out at about 640MHz on air...

Got the board working again and did some RAM-testing with strap 333:

So has anyone had any better luck with the 2x2 GB kits?

I notice that Tony at the OCZ Forums and Greg at the Mushkin Forums have both been able to get their respective 1600MHz 2x2GB 7-7-7 kits stable with some decent settings.

Tony's results are interesting given that the lower speed with tighter latencies is supposedly giving better performance.

Mine are currently running at 1200 MHz 6-6-6-18

I'm impressed by the 1266 5-5-5 stable settings.

Expat_Griz, or anyone for that mater on sub zero.

Right to rephrase the question. What sort of temps are you phase guys getting with LCD poster for CPU? I'm getting between N/A to 3c. Will check my mount later.

Just a quick mess around (edit and a bit more messing around. Update)

    Cheers

@RLM Glad to see you've got the phase hooked up. I will check tonight but if memory serves I am like you, usually getting zero's for the CPU. the only place it reads correctly for me is in the Bios. NB & SB read ok on the LCD poster. One weird thing is that power sensor reading. When I first put it on phase it would read -3C to -10C degrees. Now its +125C!!!! It doesn't seem to limit me in my OC, but scared the heck out of me at first!! Had a quick play the other night for 3D stability. Ran all 4 bench marks back to back without a hiccup, lock up, or BSD. Pretty happy with the results, other than 3D 06. Graphics Cards @ stock as OC them doesn't seem to help much. Cpu @ 4.97 Ghz.

@ Zlojack Started playing with my ram the other night as well and tried 1N. Best I can do stable is 8 8 8 21 82 for 1848. 2N to follow as it was 5 in the morning and ran out of time. Seemed to hit a sweet spot with 2N @ 1848. Everest Read was 39.8!!!! This of course was with crazy FSB @ 577. Will get back to you because I'll squeeze in a session tonight!!

Some tidy scores you've got there. Bl00dy hell

    RE: Vapochill

For the back mount I stuck down an extra layer of neoprene/insulating foam with a hole cut out. I then just mounted the stock plate/neoprene/heater on top of that.

Also got the second PSU setup now, which keeps the phase on constantly.

A bit of 3dmark06. Got to say I wasn't blown away by the score, but nice to see the QX at 480x10.

Very Nice RLM!!! ...and thanks!!! Yup, that backplate and extra neoprene looks like the business! I would like to put my QX9650 "under phase" and just might after seeing your score. 480 FSB would be great as on air 420 is about max and not too stable. 400 X 10 it will run all day long but figure there will be more once I chill her down. Keep pushing as I would really like to see what you can do!!

Q9650 in Rampage Extreme with XFired HD4870s.

OK All , I finally figured it out and ATI's CCC does not work on the second GPU when you are CrossFiring. You need to manually create a CCC Profile and rewrite the OC Parameters within it. Then invoke this profile from within CCC and away you go.

Here is the link to creating a CCC OC Profile.
    http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...readid=2236780

Also, I can run at 500x9 in Vista Ultra 32-bit but the CPU score is only 6700 with Vista, while it is 7100 in XP Pro.

In my previous benchmarks without this OC Profile being invoked my HD4870s were running as 1 OCd and the other not OCd. With this OC Profile set to run both OCd I've went from a 3DMark06 Score of 24,070 to 26,102. There are times in the Canyon Flight Benchmark where the FPS almost reach 300.

But here is the screen shot and the ORB link.

It looks like my board goes back to ASUS on Monday . They say 10 days for RMA, we will soon see.

The voltages would spike out of range even if they were set manually. ASUS suggested it was the chip but I was getting fatal bus or interconnect errors. If I had not left probe on I would not have found the problem, all of a sudden the alarm went off and I saw the core volts red. It successfully fried two cores in a Q9650 so I am not about to put the new chip in this board.

Might want to keep an eye on this

So has anyone had any better luck with the 2x2 GB kits?

@Zlojack Dood, been busy..apologies. My 2x2 Diablos are a funny beast. I can take them down to 1600 with 1N 7 7 7 21 72 but there seems to be a big hole from 1848 - 1921. Have tried all kinds of different ratios, settings etc. I can still do 2000 mhz but at loose timings. I keep coming back to the one pictured below as it is stable as can be. Yup, can go faster but 1760 @ 8 8 8 15 72 gives nice results. Will keep trying for more but as I mentioned earlier can't seem to nail it down. Don't pay attention to the Core Volts as I just came down from a run @ 5.5 Ghz. Monday a couple sets of Cellshock black should arrive.....can't wait to slot them in!!.

make that 2 but im not REALLY comfortable to go there 24/7 though... 2.2 feels a bit high.

That's good to hear guys!! They were finally it stock and on sale at memoryc so snagged 2 2x1 kits. Will try them 2x1 and 4x1 to see how they perform. I've had the 2x2 diablos @ 2.15 - 2.2V with fans over top and so far not a problem. They don't even get warm. Do you think I could use 3x1 of these for Nehalem?? Or will it have to be a new 3x1 or 3x2 kit?

@ DeathWalking As this is my first kit of DDR3 ram I don't know if I would say overwhelming recommendation but I'm pretty happy with my set (GTS). I've managed to get them stable @ 1800 8 8 8 21 72 2N & 1760 8 8 8 15 72 1N. Still working on going higher but might have to loosen the timings a bit. They like the volts...I've pumped anything up to 2.2V through them and then they become stable at the tighter timings. It seems the guys like Zeus and a few others with the 2x1 kits are able to achieve much better timings at higher mhz than the 2x2 kits. I should get a couple kits of cellshock black tomorrow and will see how they do.

    Anybody Running 4X1 ram??

Wow, looks like everybody is enjoying there board. Thread is slowing down. Anyway, recieved the Cellshock ram and woo hoo!!!! Yikes, this is an entirely new level of performance. One problem though. I can run the ram 2 x 1 but 4 x 1 is not stable. Have tried skews, command rates, etc but just can't get it to mesh. Both kits of memory are stable by themselves at numerous levels. So if anybody has figured out 4 x 1 could you please pass on your findings. Here is some playing around last night with the ram, sure was fun!!

    I have had 4x1GB Cellshocks.
The trick was for me :
    Vmem : 2.1 V ( placed a vent. in front of Mems )
    1750Mhz @ 7-6-6-15-2T (performance was even better than @1800MHz )
    Vnb 1,37V
