Stability issue? None that I'm aware of. How bizarre. What exactly is an EUE issue? Thanks for the heads up Sc0.

Furthermore, I just tried posting in that topic on the F@H forums and it won't let me. Maybe 7im will venture back this way eventually.

I'm rather proud! It's not every day I can inadvertently contribute to a train wreck of a server!

Don't feel that bad... there were others on the business too
Have changed something this week on your machine, clock, drivers, anything? Or has weather been exceptionally hot... reasons for the EUEs (=EarlyUnitEnd) could be numerous of course. I wish I could help, not sure I can and on top of that it's midnight here in Finland -> going to have to sleep soon
Have you checked your stats recently? Looks amazing... over 4000 wus... less than 9000 points at this month. It should have got you worried.

But this is good lesson for all of us. Got to be sure of the client, hardware etc. It has to be somewhat monitored.

EDIT: I tried to pm the Doc... not sure it gone through...

    thanx for your co-operation Reznik

I thought something was odd with how much my WUs went up just in the span of a few days. I never bothered to really look into it though thinking it was my video card. I heard that the 4800 series were powerhouses so, yeah. In the last week all I changed was the drivers to the most current release. That was also the first week that I pretty much left it running nearly all day, every day.

I'm just gonna reflash the stock bios on the card and set the clocks low again until I get an aftermarket cooler. I have an HR-03, but no ram or fetsinks to slap on it afterward.

OK... you're off the list now. Dr. Pande asked you keep eye on these sort of issue... but actually, like I said it before, it's everyone's duty to keep the clients, machine, whatever in check

Wasn't this a good lesson. This might even lead to a better code on the client side. Look at the bright side of things...

...ooh... what did I drank with my early coffee to be so positive, monday morning and all... lol...

    Fold on!

    Reznik... WATCH OUT!

Last update... 7 wus - no points!

    (I know I'm being PITA...)

EDIT: Seems for example ATITool could cause this crashing too...
EDIT2: do you run your client with -verbosity 9 -flag. It could yield more info for you (/us). With that flag fah-core should print more detailed log which might help us.

delete your work folder and queue.dat to clear everything , Rez... then restart the client and make sure to monitor your log file on a fresh work folder and wu ensuring you don't see any EUE's (Early Unit Ends).... if you're still seeing those in the log, then need to stop the client until you have time to sit down and figure out why it's eueing in the log (driver, oc, etc...)// once you have time to sit down and troubleshoot, just test until you can get it to run from 1%-100% and complete a wu without errors.. don't just let it run with errors, that's what caused the mishap to begin with... shouldn't take very long, just need to sit down when you have time, start the client and watch the log..

an easy way to watch the log is with fahmon http://fahmon.net/download.html

for example here's one of mine right now...

Is the system down? My F@H has not been able to connect to get a new WU since about 9:45 pm last night. I've shut it down, restarted it, etc........

naw, just give it time.. I'm sure they'll get it ironed out... the topic is getting kinda heated over at fah forums, so I'm just gonna be patient and let it work itself out... no need to fuel the fire...

I thought this thread was about NV card until now

I had some problems with the 4850 and Cat. 8.7 on Win/xp64
It was slightly OCed (~680 from 625) and worked for days with the new (8.7)
drivers Today however I was playing around with it and installed the CCC to be
able to make a profile (to increase the fan speed) next thing I know
(after 1%) boom, boom, boom had about ~5 eue's one after another.
Luckily I was watching it so put the card back down so far so good.
The "problem" with most 4850 is the very low fan speed as it "idles" at 82C
no joke. The load goes to ~90, but it has 4 different temperatures according to
the GPUz and the highest is actually about 5-6 degrees higher then the "official"
(the one CCC shows)temperature. Go figure

    No Scoop you didn't

Riva is no good for the 48xx,the only thing that works for OC is the AMD gputool, but it sets the fan back to default,so I'll wait for
    riva 2.10 no rush

I was looking at that page (your link) that's the reason I started
looking at this thread. Isn't there an NV card called "Akimo"
something or similar anyway looks like it's getting sorted out on the ati side (still have wu's cued up on my gt)

    EDIT**
    8800gt "AKIMBO" thats the name

What's happening is that the server is being a bit too generous in terms of when it times out connections, filling up all of the available server threads. For now, we've bumped up the # of threads (not unlike adding more cashiers at the grocery isle, so that a few slow people don't slow down everyone) from 200 to 1500. That should help a lot in the short term. On Monday, we'll make some code modifications to make a more complete fix to this.
