I'm happy... not overclocking my video card at all, terrible ram settings, no LOD modifcations, etc. and I still pulled over 20K.
Made my day anyways.

Grats on your achievement, it's sure nice to break in 20k in a such a hard benchmark like 2k6
But just a little question ... Let's put no LOD, VGA @ stock clocks, terrible ram timings tweaking aside ... You have a Q9650 @ 4GHz, and a powerful VGA (even on stock clocks) ... Why wouldn't you be able to pull off 20k ? It's normal If you benched with same settings on XP, you'd pull of like 20200 maybe more
Now tweak you ram timings and sub-timings, overclock that poor 9800GX2 to its limits, use a bit higher cpu clocks, kill explorer.exe and 21k here I come
@Grafiz, you CPU score seems to be low. My Q6600 @ 3.84 score about 5.3k while your Q9650 @ 4ghz score at 5.3k? Don't make sense to me, something is wrong.

Thanks!
Yeah, I think you're right... the only reason it was a surprise to me was this is all second generation hardware, fast as it might be, the 2XX series and i7 are already out... and thats totally ignoring all the performance ATI brings to the table!
This was just the first run at it, I was expecting to see 15K or so, when it was over 20K I was pretty surprised. And I'm with you... time to crank up the video card and optimize the OS, see what I can really get out of this!

Interesting... very interesting.
I stopped overclocking years ago, this is my first upgrade in several years so I'm not up to speed with what I should be seeing, or all the differences between the operating systems.
I guess I should thank you for bringing it to the table, as well as George_o/c for all the information provided, I guess my next step is to slap a copy of XP pro on and see if I can increase my numbers a bit... not that it really matters to me, but it would be fun to see what I can do with this new system!
Thanks again, to the both of you!

I'm getting 6,249 @ 3.915GHz...
1.7%
Cpu scores are sh*t on Vista64. With sames sys I get like 5.3k with a 4Ghz Q6600, whereas on XP32 it is 6.1k...
Overall scores differ from 19.4k to 20.3k (Vista64 vs XP32) on my rig. Specs as below.
