NVIDIA's Big Bang II comes in September

Just got this "Spy" shot from NVIDIA 2008 Driver Roadmap, i'm not sure about everythign as i can read what you read, but let me tell you that Big Bang I was the introduction of SLI (so i guess this will be big).

From what i can read/ understand

    Display Connectivity
    Quality Improvements
    Performance Improvements
    OpenGL 3.0

Maybe SLI 2 will give you a 30% bump in performance vs. 25% making spending $300 a little more worth while. That would be nice to see if it did a bit more though.

Big Bang II - Putting two cores on one die with dedicated GPU interconnect. Yaaaaa ... y!

    Yawning after their 'whoop ass'.

I think I detect sarcasm in here, but your second sentence is totally throwing me off.

Under "Spring Notebook Cycle" I think it says GT200+ something

Also, I don't know if just a card would be "Big Bang II" - if it was a multi-GPU card, it would have to be something revolutionary to get that title unless they want to underwhelm us all

It's all good, until you realize the slide is about drivers. I mean, I understand the hardware highlights below...but any talk about software "being ready" scares me. End of September is a far way out yet...

When you have guys typing away at code, yeah...it is...because they could be in a mad crunch, and unable to deliver. Let's translate 2 month into man hours...say a nice 35 hour week...x8 weeks...280 hours...that could be a whole lot of great code, or a whole lot of wasted time. And that's just ONE person.

Big Bang II or not, Big Bang I was all bark and no bite for the consumer, and higher profits for nV. Oh, I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself!

SLI was created and introduced by 3DFX before they got acquired by NVidia...Had a Voodoo card back in 1998, was following the infos about SLI...never heard of Big Bang one

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3dfx

3dfx Interactive was a company that specialized in the manufacturing of cutting-edge 3D graphics processing units and, later, graphics cards. After dominating the field for several years in the late 1990s, by the end of 2000 it underwent one of the most high-profile demises in the history of the PC industry. It was headquartered in San Jose, California until, on the verge of bankruptcy, many of its intellectual assets (and many employees) were acquired by its rival, Nvidia Corporation. 3dfx Interactive filed for bankruptcy on October 15, 2002.
    SLI

The Voodoo2 introduced Scan-Line Interleave (SLI) to the gaming market.
In SLI mode, two Voodoo2 boards were connected together, each drawing half the scan lines of the screen. For the price of a second Voodoo2 board, users could essentially double their 3D throughput. A welcome result of SLI mode was an increase in the maximum resolution supported, now up to 1024Ũ768. Despite the high cost and inconvenience of using three separate graphics cards (two Voodoo 2 SLI plus the general purpose 2D graphics adapter), the Voodoo2 SLI scheme was the pinnacle of gaming performance at the time[citation needed].

SLI capability was not offered in subsequent 3dfx board designs, although the technology would be later used to link the VSA-100 chips on the Voodoo 5.

Having since acquired 3dfx, Nvidia in 2004 reintroduced the SLI brand (now for Scalable Link Interface) in their GeForce 6 Series. ATI Technologies has also since introduced its own multi-chip implementation, dubbed "CrossFire". Although Scalable Link Interface and Crossfire operate on the original SLI principle, the algorithms used are now totally different.

what has happned to display port btw?

off topic i know, but no vendor seems to be moving towards it for computer monitors.

sure wish they would, the spec on paper is superior to dvi
