AVG detects Trogan.Generic in Abit Sound Driver

Hi all

I was reformatting my sisters old 478 computer yesterday and when I tried to install the sound driver on her ancient Abit S-71 when AVG 8 pops up and tells me that it has a virus... I tried a different mirror (abit.com.tw and abit-usa.com) and the exact same happened.

has anyone had a similar problem?

forget it: 99,99% it's a false positive. When this new version of AVG came out a few months ago, I've had tens of false positives after running a manual scan
So if you're really worried, you can do three things:

1 scan with other anti-virus software
2 submit your issue in AVG forums
3 submit your supposedly infected file to a site that will scan it with almost all available software on the market and bring you the result (can't remember the name of this site atm...).

adding: would be a good idea to submit that (the false positive files) to AVG, so they update/fix their database.

Yeah AVG found a trojan in my HDtach.exe that I have been using for a year...right after I updated AVG...false positive...
