    I was thinkin...

So I'm going to college this fall. I was thinking about taking two desktops with me, but I don't think I will now. Then I had an idea, what if I converted all my desktops I have crunching into a rackmount to conserve space? I could set it up in the basement and I could easily add systems in as I build random computers. I would probably go for 4U chassis so I have the most room to work with, and TRUE's take up alot of space but I don't even know if those would fit. Just wondering what you guys would think about it.
Not much to say right now.

Or you can build your own shelf while not limiting air space, you can also show off your machines to the guest's, and tell them your addiction. ill show u what im talking about when i upload a pic

    Hold 8 computers, 2x 8 port switches
only one computer in it so far recently moved downstairs, but the on board Ethernet don't work so i gotta find more of them to put up the other 6 or so boards identical to that.

Whatever you do, make sure it's portable enough to be moved.

If you do go that route, look for half-height racks and maybe 5U chassis to make sure your TRUEs fit.

I'm not looking for portability, the systems will stay at home while I'm at college. I just don't want to have to stop them from crunching because I'm gone.

    Portable??

Took me and a buddy a good 10 minutes to go from upstairs to downstairs with this thing, shes a heavy piece, I thought about getting a server chassis, but then i wouldn't be able to put it on display when friends and family arrive, although, single cores aren't the prettiest to look at =)
