    Sticky: captaincascade's help+stuff=thread

On this thread i will post all the stuff i think will help you guys out. I will also post pictures of projects im working on, as soon as i locate my digital camera wich is in one of these boxes,. anyway here ya go, its a start and i hope its helpful.

Oh, any questions or coments are apreciated. well maybe not coments. j/k

this one is out of one of my books and gives a little description of a cascade system.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/cc/cas2.jpg

this is another diagram of a cascade system. im just tryin to help people who dont get it.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/cc/cas3.jpg

this is one i thought would be helpful to all of you. its pretty self expanatory. if you have trouble reading it let me know and ill clarify.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/cc/cas5.jpg

this is a more advanced set up. not really great for cascades but hey just thought id draw it anyway.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/cc/cas6.jpg

this is a simple wiring diagram i made for a cascade system. hope it makes sense

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/cc/cas7.jpg

and heres the diagram that goes with that more advanced setup.

    Any questions,?
    please feel free.

A big thanks to fugger for taking time to put these up for all to see

Very nice! This is going to be a great thread! Thanks for taking the time Captain and hats off to Fugger for making it possible.
BTW: The pumpdown receiver is a great idea.

my little bastard auto cascade made -70c. Something that often happens on a ricuty cascade system is..... youll get her goin,,,,, she'll be fine ...... but then you turn it off.........when you turn it back on ,,,,,,, she just wont do it. the flow just aint the same. im gunna put my camera ontop my stuff tomorrow so i wont forget it. ill show you some pics of it.

Look guys, ive never made an auto cascade before nor do i know anyone who has. the only reason im apllying it here is because it applies to another project im working on in a much smaller scale.

the reason i posted "if i build it will you buy it" is because, if i made a cascade cpu chiller. What the hell would i do with it? i cant even figure out how to overclock my computer.

I've made lots of regular cascades, though mostly standard, and for the most part, pre engineered..........some special designs from scratch......
I like makin stuff cold. thats all i know how to do. i love piping. i love my job. and id love to build a super cascade cpu chiller. but i dont have any use for 1.

so when i say " if i build it will you buy it" what i mean to say is " ok, i got this thing, now what am i suposed to do with it"

i didnt know nobody has been able to build a real, reliable cascade system. i could have 1 in a week. .............

    anybody in la?

    how about this.

If i build it. Will somebody take it for a spin?

my point is, i could never sell one with my name atached to it, unless i knew it did what you guys wanted it to do. if i build it i need to know theres someone in los angeles who can help me test it. i say that because it may need motificaion,,,, who knows.
im not going to ship someone somethin with a note that says "good luck". my motherboard is on its last leg.

CC, give a shout at DaGooch and OPP, they are in your area and know what they're doing with those types of setups. I'm sure they'd be willing to meet up and work out the kinks abd test run them for you. It's worth a shot anywho.

That is a BRILLIANT idea! Some of the guys get together on the weekends there for little "jamming sessions" where they alternate between freezing and burning stuff and setting new records! If you were to show up there with a REAL supercooled machine, anything would be possible with that bunch.
Even if you showed up at first without the machine, you would get an excellent idea of what it is that everyone in this forum is looking for in a cooler. They could answer any questions you had about computers and you could answer any they had about Cascades....what a marriage! Hey, if you can throw the right people together like that for a common purpose, amazing things could come from it!

i still gotta figure out an evap. that could definitly be an issue....... what chipset? i mean likem what size? everyone has a different one, right?

i guess amd is best for overclocking?

do i need to design my own evap?

That's another thing that little group could help you with. There are lots of guys in here who make their own blocks. Fugger, Cathaar, Bowman, Baker18, DaGooch....list goes on and on. I have Bakers latest design evap head on my modded Mach1. Hang in there someone will be along with that kind of experience. I would like to try my hand at it one day, for now I buy mine from these guys in here.
AMD and Intel both are good for OCing. Lots like AMD because you can play with the multiplier instead of just the FSB, but the performance results are what really matter at the end of the day.

    ok..

hers some pics of some stuff

    http://www.subz3ro.net/P1010019.jpg

heres the autocascade. or as i like to call it "that thing on the table" . that tube thats all bent up is the evap, i just put that on there cause i didn't know what else to use, for the time being.

i made the heat exchanger with something like that in the middle of that big beat up tube ontop the condenser. i put that shape in the heat exchanger and beat the hell out it so i would get more flow action around the tube inside. heat exchanger made somethin like -30. evap made -70c.

    http://www.subz3ro.net/P1010020.jpg

heres the phase seporator. i made it with a reciever.

ok i was gunna type out how a auto cascade worked but that'd take to long so heres a link.

i got some of my shop to if ya wanna see. sorry about the bad angles i had everyone at the shop and i was tryin to keep a low profile, the other guys at the shop poke fun at my creations.

Here is a basic drawing of his autocascade system:
    http://www.subz3ro.net/autocascade.bmp

The condenser got messed up when I stretched it, and I didn't fix it.too tedious.

Autocascade systems utilize a mix of refrigerants in one loop, in this explanation it shall be 2 refrigerants.
The mixture is pumped into the high stage condenser and cooled, the low pressure refrigerant will be cooled and condense and the high pressure will only be cooled, but stay a gas.
The phase seperator seperates the liquid low pressure refrigerant from the gaseous high pressure refrigerant. The high pressure refrigerant is fed to the low stage high side in the interstage heat exchanger(what a mouth full). The low pressure liquid refrigerant is fed into the interstage heat exchanger cooling the high pressure gas liquifying it.The low pressure refrigerant gas is then routed back to the main suction line. The high pressure liquid refrigerant is then fed into the main low stage evaporator, and the evaporated gas is also fed back to the main suction line.

The principle is quite basic, but the application is not.

Here is another old old drawing (touched it up a bit, fixed some screwy proportions) I made a long time ago.It is a a direct die concept with a ball valve operated oil seperator.

Was my drawing for an autocascade, dabit has a better one, ill go and dig it out. But drawings are the easy bit

EDIT: This is dabits rather better autocascade drawing, pretty much the benchmark drawing for an auto ive seen.
