    SATA CD-RW Trouble

I took my old PC and added a 160GB IDE and a DVD/CD-RW Combo SATA drive to it and sold it to him for $200.

    AMD 4200+ X2
    DFI LP nf4 SLI-DR
    2GB GSKILL DDR400
    SATA DVD/CD-RW Drive
    160GB 7200rpm IDE HDD
    GeForce 7900GTX 512MB

and he bought a power supply for it.
    Its running Windows XP Pro

He is able to open and run and use any CD/DVD he has came across but when trying to burn anything to a CD (data, music) he gets buffer issues.

I have never used a SATA burner because I have my old SONY DVD-RW IDE that I have used since I bought it back in the day. He has tried 4 different brands of CDs and CD-RWs with no luck. WMP, Nero, Windows all have the same issues when trying to burn. If I remember correctly the Burner is plugged into the nvidia controller.

    Please help.

Yes, sounds like a compatibility issue with that older onboard controller when dealing with sata based opticals.
