Poll Fan Noise Preferences

Zalman ZM-F3 120mm for my next build but I have collected a plethora of fans over the years.

I have a ZM-F3 on my SS unit.. really helps cooling it down at high ambients, but most of the time I let it run around 1200 so it's not louder than the compressor
Great fan though, incredible value.

I'm not too fussed, as I use a fan controller. As long as they push enought air (75Cmf+) at 12V and are quiet at 6.5V I'm very happy.

i have tried the yates SH at 12v, it was a little noisy, just a little.
i prefer those sflex-f over yates SM medium speed, but i have both, and both are good quiet fans even at 12V, under volting to 7v most of the time. And most likely the sflex-f would outlast the yates SM in long term horizontal mounting orientation...

I have yate mediums on my radiator on a sunbeam rheobus controller. Now I think I may as well have gotten yate slow instead and saved the $20 on the controller since that is where they are set all the time anyway at just about 1350RPM

2 noctua at 1300rpm 16db for case, and 3 x Yate Loon D12SH-12 at 1500rpm for 24/7 or 1700 gaming!

I use 11 Fan 120mm*25mm 119CFM 47,5DBA 2800RPM http://www.tranyoung.com.tw/products.asp with a switch 5V/12V for 2D mode and 3D .

My radiator are all push and pull configuration

Thanks for all the votes. This is good information I'll use for all my radiator testing. I'm still suprised to see so many in the Ultra Low category, but silence is obviously popular. I might have to see about working one more lower RPM test into the process..

You really have to go to a hearing aid specialist, trust a doctor

Might as well blow on the radiator

Most setups with two triple radiators will work perfectly with Scythe S-Flex F at 500 rpm at idle and small loads even with high overclocks

Check my signature, it's cooled with such a setup and my radiators can manage it without speeding the scythe fans above 7v at full load Prime95 small FFT

Scythe Flex-E 1200 rpm volted down to 800-900 silent surfering or 1200 gaming

I make use of S-Flex "F" series pretty much exclusively any more. As someone already said, they're very solid performers @ 12V and undervolt beautifully. I used to be smart, and had them hooked up to a fan controller which has since been removed. Now all three (two on a rad and one just acting as a case fan at the moment) are sitting behind those 56-ohm resistor cables from Zalman and running a bit fast at about 1150 RPM as a result.

They used to run at about 900 RPM, and are about to go back onto a controller for just that. Well, and also to be able to turn them up when the temp in my apartment gets to 90°+ when trying to game
