    Good luck. Just awesome.
    thanks!

bandwidth is not really an issue - I only really want power - power for my i-RAM.. the LAN card I tested already gets that sooo in theory: success!

i havent tested it with the actual i-RAM, so I dont know if stand-by power works..
& then of course I havent tested data ('the ultimate test') - but thats not so important hehe

    cheers!

edit: I think thats what I'll test next - stand-by power

Paypal addy? I hope your not too far away. I just remembered how damned big Austrailia is!
How expensive is gas there now?
Just looked, Tiro is in Perth. I know about that place.
Western lower corner where all the rejects from AU's east coast are sent to get rid of them.
They live in a spot that borders a desert and need seawater distilation plants for water.
Yea, one step on the ladder above hell..

    small update

decided to test if stand-by power is functional: PASS

(clarification: stand-by = PC not on, but PSU is plugged in & is switched on)

I am sooooooooo tempted to add the PCI-Express x8 (electrically x4) slot to my mobo

heres a 'break-down' on my mobo & another one from Intel that is so darn similar:

my mobo model number is: SE7520BB2
other Intel mobo model number: SE7520BD2

    a) 1 letter diff in model number
    b) notice the bolded number - this is actually a Northbridge of Intel.. one thing is for sure: mobo models may change, but NB specs dont

    diagramatic lay-out of my mobo:
    (pic courtesy Intel)

diagramatic lay-out of the other Intel mobo:
    (pic courtesy Intel)

a 'real' pic of the other Intel mobo:

from the diagramatic lay-outs, take careful notice of the allocation of PCI-X & PCI-Express lanes

    it kinda is!

remember, all I need is power -

stand-by power tested with i-RAM: check
operational power tested with i-RAM: not tested BUT
operational power tested with PCI LAN card: check

I will check operational power *with* i-RAM, right now

if that works.. all thats left to check is that the mobo itself is still fully functional
