You wouldn't happen to be able to bench something with GPU@625 and memory stock would you? Trying to do 4850 vs 4870 comparisons here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=192690 With games and settings the reviews are using to be able to compare.

This is pretty much CPU limited scores. With Yorkfield at 4GHz score would be 18.5-19k.

Contact a reviewer, it's a closed beta given out to review the new cards not ment to go public. Meaning, I can't find one either other then removed links.

Well I tried Cross Fire today. When I tried booting up the XP screen just froze. I thought maybe my Corsair 750TX wasn't able to handle the electrical demands of these cards when ran in CF mode. So I took one card out and the system would not show any display or post. Only the VGA fan spins.
Then I tried the other HD4870 and the same thing happens.

I then tried all of my old VGAs and everything runs fine.

Therefore, i tried each HD4870 in my other systems and only the fan spins and no display output happens.

I don't know what happened, but it's RMA time. At least I got to play with 1 card for 2 hours.

Did you overclock thru bios update or something? Or did they just die without you doing to them?

No I only OCd through CCC to 790/1050.

And never OC'd the second card.

both cards died when I tried CF the first time.

this card sure is blazingly fast
I wonder if 4850 CF would be a great competitor to this card
    since 4850 itself gets 14000 in 3dmark2006 when 4870 gets 16000 when the Q6600 is in 3.6GHz
I really sad since my 4850 only can perform upto 11000ish when my Q6600 is in 2.4ghz because of my bad mobo
I wonder how 4870 in default Q6600 clocks, would you add some more test for this?

If anyone has found this driverset please PM me; I intend on starting benchmarking on a 4850 today with emphasis on potential memory bandwidth bottlenecks. I would like to use this driverset if possible, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kensek, talk about being gunned down in your prime,

I was enjoying your results then it all went wrong . . .bummer!

I'm just wondering, how were the temps of these cards? did you have a peek in CCC at any stage to see if the cards were melting?

Overclocking would surely add extra heat as would stacking the cards in Crossfire. Apart from that I can't really see any reason you got two dead cards unless they were both from a dodgy batch.

Good luck getting it sorted, RMA to the rescue!

Was really looking forward to Benching in CF Mode.

Had fun back in December with the HD3870s and all went smooth then. Therefore, I expected a problem free session with the HD4870s.

    WRONG!!!!!

Also my OLD BFG 8800GTS G92 scores 17,0xx in 3DMark06 in my Rampage.

This HD4870, when it worked for 2 hours could only do 17,6xx.

Here is screen shot with 8800GTS in Rampage.

Welcome to you to I Nukec

Yeah that's high but speculation at this time is either Quimonda ram or cf-x. Allot of cards deid while in cfx I gatherd from the posts and others point to the only diffrence between 4870 and 4850 being the gddr5 on the 4870.

I just hope they will resolve this soon, I'd like Ati to make a good impression again with a new product but if this is going to take some while to rectify Ati will loose even more consumer trust and I would hate to see that happen.
