Unhappy Komplett.co.uk closes its doors :(

    http://channel.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=14004

Personally, i think the credit crunch is to blame...

I liked komplett, always had lightning fast delivery from them, they even still have my old order details from 2006 on their site...

    I'm sad

    Main Rig

    Intel Core i7-2600K (SLB8W, E0 Stepping) @ 4.6Ghz (4.6x100), Corsair H80i AIO Cooler
    MSI Z77A GD-65 Gaming (MS-7551), v25 BIOS
    Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200 Kit (HX24C11BRK2/16-OC) @ 1.5v, 11-13-13-30 Timings (1:8 Ratio)
    8GB MSI Radeon R9 390X (1080 Mhz Core, 6000 Mhz Memory)
NZXT H440 Case with NZXT Hue+ Installed
    24" Dell U2412HM (1920x1200, e-IPS panel)
    1 x 500GB Samsung 850 EVO (Boot & Install)
1 x 2Tb Hitachi 7K2000 in External Enclosure (Scratch Disk)

    Entertainment Setup

    Samsung Series 6 37" 1080p TV
Gigabyte GA-J1800N-D2H based media PC, Mini ITX Case, Blu-Ray Drive
    Netgear ReadyNAS104 w/4x2TB Toshiba DTACA200's for 5.8TB Volume size

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.

    Wow

They're indeed awesome. Glad they'll remain in The Netherlands... Although... I hope they'll stay for long then.

But I know what you mean, Komplett is a very good shop

Its also a case of the Irish OC/High end gear market is booming whereas the UK market has becomesaturated with medocre suppliers who are flooding the market.

Well in other words they are closing because the competition here is frenetic, no need if they can not keep their prices lower like other online electronic shops like Ebuyer, Dabs and others. Probably there is no a money return from its work, Ebuyer has a huge warehouse and many loyal customers as it sells not only computer related items as any kind of electronic via its e-shop. A good example is overclocks.co.uk who sells items 10% over the competition but it gets new items first than anyone else. So they keep its profit at a higher balance, therefore they will not die anytime soon as many of the people over there do not care much about spending 10% to 20% more than the normal price established by the manufacture of that particular item as long as they get the product first to play with.

I purchased many products over there and have had no problems whatsoever, its decision is certain wise as it can concentrate its resources where they have the strongest base per consumer.

Don't worry to much, Komplett as a whole is, if you look at the published figures, entirely profitable. Their UK part was probably not worth it to them I guess.
They will also remain to provide service to all whom bought anything from them in the UK, so no worry that you can't suddenly RMA anything you just bought.

The only decent ones are scan.co.uk, ebuyer.co.uk and overclockers.co.uk....

    Who are the rest?

Used once or twice.. But there are much more cheaper alternatives now. Personally scan.co.uk and/or Dabs.com are the best.. If only Ebuyer got the lastest stuff quicker though as there returns now is simply brilliant (Requested RMA, got it accepted the same day. They sent a courier next day, i had the replacement 2 days later. On two ocassions now).

Ah but the problem is that its not quality that most ppl look for. Most people starting off and will buy from any of a hundred e-tailers. Only after time they will then move to the proven retailers with CS and backup on their purchases.

well talking about just uk etailers? i really recommend www.hardwareversand.de and www.caseking.de to people. prices are rock bottom , only thing that kills it is shipping , but for ordering an entire build its tops , RMA service is ez pz

I'd rather avoid germany tbh....keep things within the UK and you're protected by trading laws.

Plus, dont want to go supporting the bosch now, do we?

scan + yoyotech only ship with citylink, ebuyer sometimes has pretty damn good prices and used to be only source for dfi boards for a long time, ocuk (not even going to bother commenting (if you cant say anything nice...)), aria + specialtech + misco suck if it comes to selection of what they stock, that leaves tekheads, quietpc and memoryc as good shops with good shipping options (+various wc centric shops).

Yoyotech is in TCR, and its usually where i go to to get parts, sure it might cost a few quid more, but for the convenience of being able to pick it up myself and inspect the goods beforehand, and talk to people who KNOW what they're selling me, you cant beat it.

i myself dont like casekings, crappy selection and there are cheaper stores with better selections. But those stores dont ship to ireland.

But i know that you as an irishman dont have that many options seeing the Irish shops are a pure ripp off with their prices.

I wonder how complicated the logistics of becoming a reseller are , I've done it in other areas but never in the Tech sector. Trading practices would be very different and I dont know if the market would be here for a small reseller.
