    Question HELP!!!!!! ASUS Bios problems

OK, so I just finished a custom build: ASUS Maximus Extreme, Intel Q9450 @ stock, 2GB of OCZ DDR3 1333 RAM, 9800GTX, WD250GB HDD, and OCZ 750watt PSU.
    SO! now the problem

Whenever I power on the system, everything works fine, UNTIL the system says that there the CPU is unrecognizable and that I need a BIOS update, I currently have v0905. So then it says press F1 to continue to the BIOS setup, so i press that, and everything is 100% normal, recognizes everything, nothing weird going on. So, to boil this down to the questions...

    1) I've tried flashing the BIOS, but for some reason I cannot succeed, I will look for more tuts tonight though.

    2) does anybody have ANY idea whats going on?

Can you explain your problem a little more in depth? What do you mean you cannot succeed? What messages show?

    Exclamation

okey dokey, so heres the details my friend.

    Step1:

    power on, everything works,

Step2: recognizes all the components, including the CPU

Step3: goes to a new screen saying: "detecting drives done, no any drives found" (no theres no typo here)

Step4: goes back to the previous screen saying: "unknown CPU is detected--requires BIOS update to unleash full power
    press F1 to resume setup"

Step5a: If I press F1 I go back to the BIOS, when in the BIOS, everything is normal, it recognizes all components in the system.

    Step5b: If I DON'T press F1, after roughly 30-45 seconds I go to a screen saying:

"Welcome to ASUS Motherboard make disk for DOS menu

    1)Make Intel ICH9R 32bit RAID/AHCI Driver Disk
    2)Make Intel ICH9R 64bit RAID/AHCI Driver Disk
    3)Make JMicron ICH9R 32bit RAID/AHCI Driver Disk
    4)Make JMicron ICH9R 64bit RAID/AHCI Driver Disk
    5)FreeDOS command prompt

    Choose 1~5:"

I dont know what to do, I also will add that I do NOT have a floppy disk drive in my computer.

    UPDATING THE BIOS

If I follow the steps I listed out for you to Step5, and then press F1 to go back to the BIOS, I have the option to use the "ASUS EZ FLASH 2" When I select this option, it takes me to the EZ FLASH screen, I have the option to install the BIOS update from there, my only choice seems to be from a flash drive, because as I said earlier I do not have a floppy disk drive. I downloaded the BIOS updates from the ASUS support site onto my flash drive, but when I plus the flash drive in and go into the ez flash I cannot install the files, as they do not show up as being on the drive, I am presuming this is due to the fact that they are .zip files in compressed folders, but... I dont know how to change that, OR what file type they should be in...

Sorry if that was TMI, but I wasn't sure how descriptive to get so I just put it all out in one post instead of making yall piece together 10 different ones

Ahh, well you need to format your USB key so that it is bootable. The USB Storage Format tool can do that.

You can get the tool here: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/downloads...4&itemId=64963

Heres a guide on formatting it: http://www.gamebeat.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1057

Put the bios file on there and try it out - get back to me with results.

no you don't - with ezflash2 you can just put the .bin/rom file on a stick and plug it in
Make sure to rename the .bin file to 1007.bin/rom for example. I do that and just put the file on an empty USB stick and go to EZFlash, and bob's your uncle

Though a friend had the same issue with an old nforce4 board (AMD) where the CPU wasn't supported on that BIOS so he ended up having to borrow a compatable chip from me to flash the BIOS, i'm not sure if that's applicable these days
