    !!!!

Plus, there are confirmations around the net that this card might end up $199.99 to compensate for the GTX 260 price drop

Kai, what cpu speed just to make it even?

Thanks to all for the great responses. The vista crysis fail may be fixed, a reader at TPU has a work around, I will try it tonight. I am also desperatly in need of some tool which can oc this beast beyond CCC limits. if any coders out there can get one working I would appreciate it, just PM me so I see it quick. I can provide bios dumps etc.

    Your Crysis result @ 1680x1050 @ High settings @ DX9 >> pretty much same as 9800GTX

    HD4850 + Quad-Core @ 4Ghz = 35 FPS

    9800GTX + E8400 @ 4Ghz = 37 FPS

To be honest, performance is a little bit disappointing, my OC'ed 8800GS can do almost the same.
Okay, maybe OC-potencial is great, drivers will be improved and so on, but that's definetively no real big-time. (Doesn't mean I don't want to play with them )

I was just looking and my 3850 single card best run was 14458 in 06 with the cpu @ 4.9ghz and ram tweaked, on a stripped install of xp.
This card at stock with no tweaks and cpu at 4ghz and ram loose is only 50 points behind....

What I did to the cat is under NDA, sorry

The GTX 260 was originally priced at $449, as can been seen in Nvidia's own slides. It is now $399

[QUOTE=GoldenTiger;3060286]I'm hearing $299 for the 512 and $329-349 for the 1GB around the various forums... sounds reasonable to me. The memory's expensive but not so expensive it will boost the price obscenely.

Think ill just hang in there and wait tell they go down to 150$ in six months. Heck maybe even three the way things are.

The reason i ask is cause my 8800GT returns these results, and i want to see how the 4850 does in comparison:

32/64-bit both score the same on my setup

The 4870 is only a faster clocked 4850. They have the same number of TMUs, which is believed to be 32.

Nice, I think the GDDR5 would help a lot but I'm going for 2x 4850s myself.

Current setup does this, compare to 24FPS average for ONE 4850, while this is 8800GT 512 SLI:

4850 = nice! So, will we be able to use atitool/rivatuner/etc. to overclock crossfire 4850s, or gonna have to wait for BIOS flashes for CCC again?

So, basically, 4850 has better score in 1680x1050 on crysis high than 8800GT SLI?

We are talking about two different cpus, different frequences, etc. Although we can expect to see something that close.

    It's slightly lower... 24FPS (4850 stock) vs. 28FPS (GT overclocked SLI). I'm impressed .

3870 has only 64 SP which are capable of 5 operations per cycle = 320. Does 4870 have 160 SP ? Oh yeah, and 3870 has only 16 TF/TMU, same as X1900 or X2900 - what about this one?
