I just found it to be less picky when it comes to vtt/nb voltages than the M2F and memory bandwidth was slightly better with the P5Q-D, IMO. I'm not sure why you or others are having problems since mine was a total joy to work with. Have you tried Ket's BIOS's yet? He has a post in this section.
Really? I loved my 4x1GB Mushkin PC2-8500 sticks. I haven't tried their 2Gig sticks yet but from what I remember Leeg had no complaints.

I'm stuck at 4365mhz 485FSB. I'm pretty sure its a FSB issue not max CPU OC.
I dropped multi to 8 and left all settings the same and still couldnt get stable at 490.
Windows will freeze a few minutes after booting. I've tried upping vcore, NB, SB, FSBT, and PLL.
Also i tried transaction booster on auto. My NB and SB never go over 55c.
Here are my bios settings and at the end a ss of 8hrs stable at my highest OC.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Just to see, raise PLL to or over 1.6v I ran into exact same issue @ 488FSB but If I set PLL to auto or 1.6+ it primed or over 2Hours. Of course I was too scared and stopped it though.

Here is a strange one: every third or forth time I put the computer to sleep, it will not come back from it. When I reboot, it tells me that I need to enter bios and fix things. When I get there, all of my settings are gone. This happens whither I am overclocked or not. Any ideas? Oh yeah, I have a q6600, 2x2 Gb G.skill pc 8000 ram, and a 3870 x2. This is my HTPC.
Please help me understand something. I see so many people being able to overclock quite nicely with very low vcore voltages. I even looked back at one of TouGe's posts where he was stable at 3.8Ghz with the same CPU as mine, and I followed it as closely as I was able considering that I have different RAM. I was able to boot into Windows at 3.8ghz with only 1.31v VCore. On my own, I have NEVER been able to actually get into windows at 4 Ghz under 1.5v. I know I'm doing something wrong and I don't understand the voltages.
My only goal is to get 4 ghz stable 24/7. I was close with bios 0802 (using very high vcore (1.525) and PLL (1.69v), but tonight I updated to 1307 and those same settings don't seem close anymore.
My G.Skill RAM are non-MicronD9, so they are not top of the line. I suspect RAM is playing a part in my troubles, and of course, the voltages. If someone could help me understand why if I give it enough vcore, I can make it work, but I'm overvolting like mad while other, more knowledgeable people, are getting the same speeds with WAY less volts -I would be so appreciative.

Pretty sure i tried 1.6+ but i'll try again now. I just ran 4 passes of memtest all tests at 500x8 so i don't think its my ram. but 500x8 i cant get to desktop. I get windows load screens but right before desktop the screen stays black. Monitor light is on so its still gettin signal just no desktop.

Edit: tried 0907 no difference. I'm in windows now at 490x8 but as soon i reached desktop the sidebar errored out. so it should freeze any time.

First, you need to adjust your GTL's, 1 & 3 for sure and possibly 0 & 2. There is a sticky in this section that explains hows to do this for the M2F. Also your PLL is too high (keep it under 1.60V if possible) and you shouldn't need >1.5V vcore w/ LLC enabled, what are your CPU temps (idle/load)?. Unless you are under some serious water that has to be pretty toasty. You also need to get rid of all those auto settings as well.
The only time I ran a high FSB was when I did 8x450MHz using the 266 strap and a Performance Level 8 w/ Ai clock twister set to Strong but that was using a P5Q-D--I don't remember all the settings.
I'd just work on getting your FSB stable @ 450MHz with a 7 multi (w/ Vcore @ 1.26 LLC enabled, PLL: 1.51325V, FSBT: ?, NBV: ?)and once you get it Prime stable for 2 hours just start bumping the multi up 1/2 steps. You need to learn how your chip reacts to changing PLL, vtt, vcore, and GTL's. Just throwing a bunch of voltage at it will only make your OC frustrating and less satisfying. There's a sweet spot there somewhere just take your time and you will find it.

@cryptik. 1.39 in bios under load was 1.37. now i can run IBT and temps stay around 60 -65c,cause underkoad volts are much lower.

A couple of pages ago, perhaps it was not directed at you. Everyone's definition of safe temps differs, whatever you're comfortable with really.
Nice, so with LLC enabled and 1.37v load you were not stable @ 4050, but now without LLC and 1.34v load you are stable at 4100? Interesting.
Very nice clock for the voltage, what is the max FSB you can hit with that cpu using 6x multi on air with a safe voltage? I'm curious as to how this board handles higher FSB speeds and I'm unsure if it my CPU or the board that is holding me back as I can't get over 570 FSB.

600 FSB, nice one. Your cpu may need a little more vcore, also maybe a slight bump in vNB, but it should be doable. BTW your english is fine.

Hey folks,
I'm considering this board for my htpc, with a Q9550 (slightly oc).
My questions is:
1) it is stable with this cpu? If so, which bios? I dont want to see a bsod with lenses.
2) The extra sata ports can be used for a dvd and the boot drive? I need all 6 intel ports for my storage.

From a review on newegg:
The second SATA controler (two black head) does not support CD drives, only HDD, so to connect a CD you have you use either PATA or one of the 6 Intel SATA ports. Plan was to boot to one of the two, CD drive on the other, and use the 6 for a hardware RAID, but looks like a 3rd party PCI-E controller will be the option.
Looks like I either put the dvd on the one intel port, sacrifying it or I have to opt for another board. Which is a pity, i love my rampage formula and everything here is very similar (but with better quad support).

This board seems to tax my memory harder than the nforce platform. wanting to go 12:10 multi instead of 1:1. What memory (8gb 2x2x2x2) would you recommend for this board/chipset? I have this now and was thinking of getting this. Thanks for the help.

Try setting Clock Skew to 300ps it will help to get the ram stable
Also relax the timing a tad and it should settle down.

Hello everybody. I finished assembling my rig and am running @4.27Ghz, and am very appreciative of all the time people have spent on this thread. My goal is 5Ghzbut I will settle for the max of this board which will probably be the limiting component.
I did have a question - I haven't found a solution to stopping the clock speed throttling. When I run CPU-Z, it shows my multi at 6 and my Core Speed as 2550, but my multi is set at 10 and my Core Speed is 4250(I can see it flipping back and forth on CPU-Z). I thought it might be ACPI and set it to disabled in Bios, but it wouldn't boot, so I had to re-enable it. I see everyone who posts cpu-z screens has their top cpu speed showing so I must be missing something. Any ideas?
Thanks
