    For ram overclocking choose Biostar.

    Thanks!

What about the cpu overclock? is the p5q-d more quad friendly?

Do you think that the Asus 16-phase helps? (Biostar is 4 Phase)

I do not care about the ExpressGate or the overclocking software in Windows.

no problems with bios 0506 an 0803.
but I have a problem at all bioser,it is strap 400 would like to be able to use it with 500/600 fsb.

Can someone explain why in bios 1201 on a QX6800 if I set to anything lower to 9x multi it reverts back to 9x multi after reboot no matter what strap/fsb/speed etc, it is set on otherwise. Is there some sort of multiplier setting bug in 1201 that I missed?

You can set the multiplier in the AI Tweaker settings, but then you can also set it somewhere else - it's in the next section to the right in BIOS. Make sure that's not set on Auto... it's the same place where you can disable/enable Virtualization, C1E, etc etc etc.

I tried prime95(large FFTs) for about 2 hours and it was stable until 125 minutes ; it gave error on core0 .
Would you give me an advice about my settings?
    Thank you.
Try playing with the GLT references for cores 1/3 and 0/2... Sometimes one of the four cores will be weaker than the others and require more voltage.

i also tried 465x8.5 with a lower v core and it stoped stable for 22 mins but nothing wants to work not even 450x9. if anyone has any templates for me to try then pm them me. and ill try in the morning. i need my rig rock solid stble for gaming temps not a problem 9800 gx2 and cpu watercooled.

thanks in advance will let you know how i get on
stable at 1.45 but quite hot 77 degrees on 2 cores then 69 on core 3 and 4 is this to high runs stable been going for 1 hour. i will try and drop voltage when its been stable for 2 hours uless you tell me its to hot thanks david

Yes, board needs new bios to properly support QX chips.

    Both tests 100% fine.

CPU Temps are fine on the Q6600 Quad (38c per core)

I've tried a new PSU... dumped my Seasonic 600Watt and put in a 1000Watt Enermax (I know overkill!) and still the BSOD.

I've tried everything on Default and also setting the voltages manually... still BSOD.

But stressing it for large amounts of time does not cause it to happen.

Is there any way I can get more info from these BSODs so I am able to know where the problem is?

I'm running at the moment Vista Ultimate 64. I have tried Windows XP 32 and XP 64. All have the same issue.
I've tried BIOS 0704, 0803, 1103 now i'm back to 0610 (which is the most stable i've been on this board but still getting BSODs now and then)

    Any help appreciated!
    Anyone assist with this please?

    Thanks in advanced!

Multiplier is set to 8 , not auto .
    I played with GTL Refs.
    Now i have :

    GTL 0/2 : 0.630
    GTL 1/3 : 0.670
    CPU PLL : 1.58
    FSB Term. : 1.48
NB : 1.30 ( was 1.34, it seems that , i have to set it high again )
    NB. GTL REF: AUTO

With these settings i get error in small FFTs in 8 minutes.
I'll set NB to 1.34 now.
    Any other advices ?
By the way, is my Vcore enough for 425x8 ?

    Edit:
With GTL REFs set to 0.630 and 0.670 got error in 1 minute.
Now set the GTL REFs to AUTO and increased Vcore by 0.00625 = 1.3750

what about bios 1201? Its supposed to have some memory compatibility fixes. Otherwise id say RMA the board.

Oh, forgot to say run a Drive Fitness Test for your hard drive. Ive seen bad HD's cause BSOD's plenty of times.

GLT on auto i can run 500x10 whit auto on GLT

bios 1103 is best to E8600
    1201 slow,s the mem,try a run superpi,an look

low volt om vcore, set a high NB volt

    bios 1103 E8600 @ 4.6GHZ vcore 1.38XXv an fsb 1.3/NB 1,5v or 4.6GHZ “vcore 1.42500 an fsb 1.3,NB 1.26v

Don't set your NB GTLref to auto... it will overvolt it.

Since core0 is the one that fails, you want that GTL to be higher... maybe .67 or .69 while core1/3 is .63.

    Okey, i'll do it.
    But now

    Vcore : 1.3750
    PLL: 1.58
    NB: 1.34
    FSB TERM. : 1.48
    GTL 0/2 , 1/3 : AUTO
    GTL NB : AUTO
Stable for about 45 mins.(small FFTs)

As you said ; if it gives error again i'll change NB GTL REF.
Is there any danger to set the GTL REFs for CPU to AUTO ?

You're kidding right? uhhhh . . What has it been almost 2 years QX chips have been out? I don't get it??? All my older asus boards going back 3 chipsets supported the QX multis? This can't be right. Anyway when you set the multi in the manual section it should automatically change it in the cpu section as well. Something just is messed up here.

Or it's only with 1201 and 65nm Quads , as the York here works fine mate...

Can I have your template plz just to test your settings (don't go bonkers on the ram as I only have 4gb kits here)

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Can you adjsut multi up? I could not..10x would result in only one boot, then had to clear CMOS. That was enough for me to stop using the board, same qx9650...i mean really, all I want was 10x400, and couldn't get it.

Didn't try up. Wow, that is odd. There must be some explanation. I mean the board is quite nice otherwise. Anyone know what really is going on here?

I figured..$200 for the board...yeah, I know why it's so cheap...because the deluxe is part of value line!

Anyway, I thought maybe I had some other component that caused the issue, but everything is now working fine on BlackOPs...

for me up to 11 or so is no problem, have you guys tried a reflashn pop the battery and then see what happens could be a corrupt flash...

Yep, even swapped out the bios chips and tried flashing the secondary. You could look back through the thread for when I mentioned it, but I got rid of the board...had no issues with my E6600 or Q6600, so I figured must have been bios issues with QX... Crap I hope it wasn't a duff board as I sold it to someone I don't really know...crap!

I usually run my Qx at 10 multi with 400FSB , I really haven't noticed any erratic behaviours with any bios... just with the E now I have some issues with LLC since 1201...

Well don't feel sad for the guy you sold it too... OC'ing is never warranted is it.. I sold my Qx9650@4ghz at 1.35 which I found very bad (CPU seriously degraded after my bench runs with the 780i), the new owner is so happy with it... he's having a ball...

And Xgman I'll pas it through mate, so your Qx is stuck at 9 in fact...

I can't get rid of an Unknown PCI Device in Device Manager

Got rid of Unknown Device by just letting the mobo-cd autostart but the other one is still there. I've disabled onboard audio, LAN2, firewire, IDE and expressgate in BIOS.

With LLC even with 1.225 it isn't stable... I flashed back to 1103 and now I can use LLC again on the E mobo... I tried 2 reflashes but prob persists on my mobo...with 1201 bios...

My P5Q dlx has no isues with it at all...

Got rid of Unknown Device by just letting the mobo-cd autostart but the other one is still there. I've disabled onboard audio, LAN2, firewire, IDE and expressgate in BIOS.
Did you properly install all the ATI drivers mate ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
