OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator available soon

    Hi Guys,

You should see the NIA in retail shops very soon. The OCZ.com site has the product information up and Nico has just received his test unit.
I am expecting my unit today/tomorrow as well as Tony.

First look and setup here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=38413

More will be added to the thread as we get used to the units.

    Thanks

15 reviews in EU, not sure on USA and Asia review numbers, samples shipping now for these reviewers.

OCZ online support team all have one and we are testing now...even us non-gamers have been ordered to get with the program on this one

We are even considering building an OCZ gaming team based around the NIA.
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?
    Have a look over here

    Serious question.

When you say it will be available soon.

Soon as in how the Cryo-Z was going to be available "soon?"

Or soon as in "soon" soon?

While I remain hugely sceptical, I'm dying to see what reviewers make of it.

Also, good point rasied above. You guys don't have the best track record of on-time launches.

Nice to see a solid launch coming together.

If real world users report that this sucker works as advertised... I'll probably pick one up myself.

question, in the screenies of the software it has profiles for games, are those profiles required for it to work for each specific game as in ocz has to create a profile for each game or are they user created like regular control options in games for example?

Im not quite getting how it works in a pratical manner.

You can move your character with muscles, ok... But what about the other brainsignals being converted to keystrokes? you cant simply think of moving forward or backward and then your char starts to move forward or backward.

It won't convert your thoughts in to keystrokes of typed words. It measures the brainwaves associated with facial expressions, etc to translate into in game commands to perform whatever function you map to it.

My understanding is that at least part of the reason for the cryo-z not materializing had to do with various government regulations. So hopefully we will see these things for real. I'm amazed that these are being offered at that price. For some reason I thought it was going to be $300. Maybe I am thinking of that other company with a similar contraption. Is this reading changes in brain waves or facial expressions and muscle contractions? Would it be possible to turn a page on an ebook just by imagining it?

Very exciting if this works. Personally I'm more interested in using it to just browse around in Windows, maybe use it as a mouse at work instead... does it require a profile to be built per program, or could you just use it like a mouse if you're only doing point-and-click (not trying to generate any keystrokes)?

Also: at NCIX - they're having a sale where if you buy mice you get a special on mousepads... so they have a banner under this product saying if you buy it you can get a deal on a mousepad.

The earliest comment I saw about these being "brought to market" was on Thu, Jan 05, 2006 - 12:00 AM (Legit Reviews covers CES 2006). It takes less time to get a nuclear power plant location approved. Don't make excuses for them, this product is still on my list of vaporware until they either stop advertising it as a product on their website or actually start selling it.
