WCG/BOINC Milestones

[xxDayTrader]

I followed the steps and added the Bionic prog. to my work laptop. I used the same username and password as on my home rig and was able to attach this second Bionic prog. to the WCG project... so far everything looks okay but...... In the Projects tab of Bionic (advanced view) I seem to be stuck in a loop of "communication deferred," connecting, and reconnecting. In the Messages tab I'm getting "scheduler request failed - transferred a partial file" and "project servers may be temporarily down" errors.

Assuming I did the install right am I correct in just figuring it's a temporary glitch and should be working by tomorrow AM? You ARE allowed to run multiple pc's on the same username right????

It was a network / router issue. By the time I got back this AM I could see things had sorted themselves out and my lappy had been hard at work all night. Thanks for the help!

I'll slow down a bit now on WCG, i might try GPUgrid for a while as i have a very efficient setup for that, but really i need to save on the power bill (expensive here). I may be back to crunching on the cold months however, it's a nice way to heat up the room.

I'm new to the team but, I think I've got the crunching bug. I've only been crunching since the May challenge but it's addictive and it feels good to me to know that I'm hopefully helping mankind.

I've got my gaming rig crunching at 4ghz now thanks to Movieman's email!

Now I'm thinking about building a dedicated cruncher box. Amd or Intel doesn't matter to me. What does matter is building it on the cheap <$500 bones if possible.

Can one of you gurus of crunch possible point me in the right direction? It would be nice to build one with at least 4 or more threads.

I'm in the same boat as you. I got the bug! Join the Quad socket cummanitarian buy. I'm in for 2 boards. They are 4 socket AMD boards that run quad core Opterons. We are looking to get the boards for around $60-$75. CPUs are locked in at $27.50/each I think. Check it out and reply to the thread if you're IN!

Just get the board and the cpus and whatever else that adds to under $500 then fill in whatever you need to get it running later on. that's what i'm gonna do.

If that wasn't due to any software (updates or something (Although why do you run automatic windows updates? )), atleast you now know your PC isn't 100% stable Better to find out now, then to crash ingame, right after you manage to finally complete a very difficult mission

Huh.. I have 3.5 milions on WCG? Kinda havent noticed.. No clue where it is to find.. not that I would care. Im happy that I broke 500.000 on BOINC. Wish I could crunch more, but PC is in same room as I and if I let it run, Im dying cause of dust alergy.
