You have a new member :)

    Hey guys,

    Just registered

Been curious about this for a while, but never got around to actually running it

Using a 8Mb line & Have Unlimited Montly Usage.

Got a question tho, Ive set my preferences to use up to 5Mb of my line, but its only streaming in at between 700-2500, howcomes its not running at a constant speed. Probably a Dumb question but I'd hate to not be outputting at my full potential

    Thanks!

Right. Not sure if many MJer's are awake to answer... but you have to hike up number of buckets and workers. Also, if you have more than one machine (2 for example).... install it on both to get max rapage from the line. Also, since your in Essex. the land of the sluts, you can select domains like .uk to be your prefered and also .ie and some other European ones too.

Also, when you put in your connection speed , I think it defaults to use 60/80% underneath ?? Not sure whuch. But anyway.

    PS: What ISP you with?

Like Riptide said, set the program to use more buckets and more workers. I have my client configured with 75 workers and 20 buckets max. In this way, I average ~6 down.

Also, I got this advice a little earlier: do not use european domains, they are way too big (in terms of page size) for efficient crawling.

    Welcome!

Im on an 8/9mbit line up in Jockland.. I use 170 works and 50 buckets open, set to 9000 down 1300 up (downstream varies). I checked all domains save a few also..but may be tweaking that today

Edit: Just tweaked my domains to only use IE, UK, SE, DK and NO. Might make a difference but we will see

    and another new member...

i wont be compeating in the top of the stats on this one, i just dont have the bandwith to do it with... hughesnet at home, and a spring aircard, so i can only give you 8 hrs a day on the lappy.
Its not overkill if it works.
