OK guys, I have found out at least one of the problems I had: my external HDD (eSATA) was causing a lot of crashes the past days - I think it's because of an driver issue, so WHAT driver do I need for the backside eSATA-port to work correctly???

    Hi folks,
I thought I would let you know that both of my P45 'A3'rev. boards will run 4x2GB ram at 2.06vdimm/1068DDR2/445fsb/5-5-5-18, and 1.20v on the NB. E8400board has two sets of older style Reaper1066, E7200 has one set 'new style' Reaper1066 and one set of Platinum1066.

    E8400@4.005GHz, E7200@3.78GHz

As much as I despised that first A2 board, these are both winners!
    My 'all air' boxes...
    Weird Science: E8400 E0step@4.0GHz - TRUE 'Black' - 8GB OCZ Reaper1066 - ASUS P5Q-E rev. A3 chipset - Visiontek HD4870 - 1.5TB - PCP&C Silencer 750Q - airflow-modded Antec P180B
    ... a decent E7200: SLAVN/1.0875VID@3.8+ - Zalman 9700 - 8GB OCZ Reaper1066 - ASUS P5Q-E rev. A3 chipset - ASUS HD3650 passive - 1.5TB - PCP&C Silencer 750Q - Antec P182SE
    Sneaky 'C' mediabox: E6400@3.14 - TRUE - 4GB OCZ Reaper800CL4 - ASUS P5W-DH - MSI HD2600XT w/massive passive - Aardvark DP 24/96 - 1.62TB - OCZ Powerstream 520 - Antec 300

I seem to be experiencing the same with the Gigabyte EP45T, A3 rev seems way better but I need way more volts than with the P5Q Dlx ( logic ofcourse )
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Question. I always want more off my CPU E8500@ 4.1ghz C0 on water, very stable and fast.
Why do i keep thinking about upgrading to a Q9550 on this board, be able to run 4.0ghz stable. (Anyone running this on this board) I don't see many people hitting 4ghz stable or this board? Would it even be worth it? Or should i just get a E8500 EO and do 4.5ghz? I don't think i will see much improvement anyways.

Or just suck it up, and be happy with what i have, i should upgrade my 4850, waiting for the GTX 295's to come down

suck it up and await a new Gfx card, you got enough cpu speed to mess with...why waste anymore money for a minor advantage and maybe be utterly dissapointed ( by eg a bad clocking CPU)... Phenom II of I7 are next...

i thought i saw someone at 500mhz fsb. how did you do that?

also, did anybody have problems with NB cooling. mine seems to run hot.
it's at 45 degrees and seems to be the limit. i cool the cpu with a swiftech h20-200 compact. keeps it nice and cool but leaves the NB with little airflow.
i thought about watercooling the NB too but then the SB and the PWN would be left high and dry.

    specs:
    Intel Q9450 @ 3.6GHz - Swiftech H20-200 Compact
    ASUS P5Q-E Rev 1.xx/ Chipset Rev A3
    OCZ Platinum 4x2G @ 1:1 450MHz/ 900MHz Cas 5-5-5-15 - i wanna try to run them at Cas 4
    EVGA 9800 GT
    Raptors
oh, and it's a rev 1 board but with a rev A3 chipset

it's running at 450x8 for 3.6ghz now, loading all cores with boinc 24/7
what voltage settings you running for this bro?

especially interested in the two gtl ref settings

My A2 board worked ok for a few weeks, but with the same BIOS (1201) I am running on the A3s I had to run about 0.10 to 0.14 more NBv. The older 4x2G Reapers on E8400 board are still at 2.06v/1.20NBv, but E7200 with 'new' 4x2G Reapers are at 2.10v/1.24NBv and it's clocked up a little more to 3.808GHz@448fsb these days - but I imagine that could just be variance between two boards.

no it's not safe, especially not if you overclock because it will flash/ reset the bios and loose the bios settings and then your system will crash, etc. you know the rest
i would use the bios integrated flash option. you can get to it by either pressing F8 during boot or just get in the bios, it's on the next to last tab. EZ Flash
i would also recommand to use a thumb drive instead of a floppy disk. it's faster

Question, what kind of BIOS are you guys using? I'm starting to believe that 1703 did no good for my rig, since I'm receiving a BSOD with "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" on a daily basis. Weird part though is that my rig is rock solid (Q9550 @ 3.6/1.17v) and temps are 28~56.

Could this be just a random driver problem, or did I screw up my CPU? @@
