heres a start to end of making the newest mount-

I use the nice hitachi miter saw with a 60tooth dewalt blade- yes i have a horizontal bandsaw but the miter saw gets really nice 90 degree angles- however i wouldn't think of cutting copper or thick metal with this ( even with my high tooth blade)

    hmm pretty accurate huh? 1.500"

Setting up on mill (x3 can handle up to 150lbs of accessories on the table- when im making lots of moutns at one time i have the rotary table off to the side and the 1-2-3 blocks and clamping setup.

1 done (IN ALL PICTURES YOU SEE NO DEBURRING HAS BEEN DONE- mine broke )

    milling

the 3 muffs are done lots of thought and design havee been going into my evaps and mountings in the past month or two, this is a lot closer to what i originally hoped then were i was at a couple months ago with my mountings. (4 hours on mounting that looked like crap... no thanks). maybe tonight but most likely 2maro ill finish up to tops do the mounts. These are mounts that will go with a first run of something i want to try- which i cannot say in public )

Ill try to post more in action pictures next time- or you guys tell me what type of pictures you want.

    Very nice.

Can you explain more about the drilling jig ? Is it for a hand drill / drill press or am I missing the point ?

Instead of spending 2 hours or so (literally) measuring and marking each hole, the insides are milled out to the exact dimensions of the mounting plate so i pop it in, turn it upside down and drill holes thought the jig

brazed her up today- These i don't want to send to customers unbrazed- extremely hard to braze these. My goal with these is a cheap, brazed, cleaned, leak tested stepper evap. I started working a while ago on a new chemical that is great for cleaning evaps i am close to perfecting it. absolutely no hints! i will say that i was missing one of the main ingredients but still came out great. (well... 1 hint- c l h )

had to braze and flip it over 3 times to get it proper- the vice serves as a heatsink to the lower half, i can get the top half hot enough to braze without having the lower part melt and still get a really good quality braze.

Also this is the importance of purging- you see the outside of the evap, and the stem of the evap(innards)? well the entire insides gets that black cr*p all in it if you do'nt purge (and this is how the insides are supposed to look )

base not lapped yet. I made a oops and the muffs for these are too big.......... need a larger snap ring (or redo the muffs hopefully not -_- )

I wouldn't use HCL though Teyber if your thinking that, your sandpapering via the roto sander is good though.

haha, see how silver the top is? you can't really mechanically clean the top of a brazed evap well like that... plus the cracks and such are much better, pretty much i let i rough sand on my *insert secret evap cleaning machine* then soak it in the chemical for an hour or so then a quick sand using *secret* with some *secret* my house cleaner recommended me

edit- and the polished stubs all for show really -_-

Yep, ultra sonic cleaner, yep yep lots of em got em. Good secret :P
Chemical A is probably vinegar. Then probably using some either sanding compound or some crap. It looks good.

actually, no joke, i only used ultrasonic cleaner to clean after machining- it doesn't do a great job of removing oxidation. i may try to use my new chemical inside ultrasonic cleaner but too much volume

alright this update is for adam/nol. we got in a friendly argument about who brazes and cleans evap better. So i brazed this and i cleaned for 5 minutes-literally- i will finish it up later. this evap is going in naekuh's unit.

First- drugs needed to have the energy for this.

jk, its my super secret mix for cleaning evaps. 3 parts solid 2 parts liquid. As you can see here, the base and sides are cleaned SUPER well but the top part and the step is not at all. this is what the cleaning fluid is for- helps tremendously with this.

See how well brazed it is too? i didnt' even leak test it before i cleaned it :P

SO NOL- SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!
