just got my blackops up and running. Finally managed to find some memory settings that work. I am using a 2x1gb Corsair DHX 1600 CL7 kit that is rated at 1.8V, and I am currently giving it 1.95 according to the AEGIS panel. Is that too much for 24/7? This is my first play iwth DDR3 so I'm a bit lost.

Also what osrt of NB voltage is required for 480FSB? 500? Can it be done on under 1.5V?

Is there a way to reach higher than 560FSB on an E8600 this with decent ram speeds on this board (not freaking 1300-1400mhz)... I have no idea why Foxconn engineers haven't included a strap setting in the bios... on top of that most of the dividers are borked anyway... this is a pure letdown for me till now. Poor Skullstation bought this one... wished he had went for a REX straight away....
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

That's nice lol... no idea why they couldn't develop a better bios for duallies...

Got max boot from bios at 570FSB at 1.71Nb voltage... 1mhz more errors out. 570FSB is Memtest and 30 min Blend stable (don't care about 24 hour runs ) and we got pi32mb stable too... though CPU-Z indicates 2T while 1T is set in the bios... P07 bios

Hope you enjoy the board Skullstation

Too bad there's only one real good divider here... it was a challenge, but I feel it still can do better with NB under Dice...

Hi guys! Im having some trouble with my set up to reach a decent OC for 24/7, can you give me a hand?

First of all, my config, so you can know what we have here:

    Q9550 D0+Scythe Ninja Rev. B P/P
    Corsair Dominator GT 2x2GB 1600Mhz Cas 7-7-7-20 @ 1.65v
    ThermalTake Thoughpower 1000W
    Windows Seven 64bit

I think that would help. Okey, I was using my config at 3400Mhz at stock vcore, wich was 1.275v(at least that was the vid that the bios show me), mems at stock speed with stock latencies and nothing more of voltage touched. This one passed a few hours stable at Prime95 with Blend so that keeps me safe. This Saturday I removed the Q9550 to place a Pentium IV 631 D0 to play a little bit with it, I managed 4500Mhz with 1.275v and was stable, till I reach the 310FSB. When I reach that amount of FSB, not matter what or where, in Bios, it wouldn't reach Windows, in Windows with 300FSB trying to get to 310FSB with Setfsb give me the same results, BSOD. Anyway, tryed any possible configuration it wouldn't do anything more than fail. There goes the first problem.

Second and wich is getting me piss off. After that failed sesion, I took up the 631 and reinstalled the Q9550 in the socket, enter Bios, loaded the same old working configuration and... Nothing, it won't boot up again. The config was 8.5 multiplier with 400FSB, wich would give 3400Mhz as I used to keep it stable with the Domis at stock speed.

Now Im running the system at 3100Mhz (8.5x365FSB) at 1.250v Vdroop Enabled with mems at 1460Mhz 6-7-7-20-2T at 1.65v with the divisor of 1:4 (400) and no other adjusments, EIST Disabled, C1E Disabled, etc.

I don't want huge voltage or amazing speeds, just my old stable 3400Mhz with stock voltage

I think your issue is with the RAM. Try relaxing the timings on it or dialing up the voltage .01 - .03 more. Funny thing about using that new DDR3 RAM, at least in my case, like yours mine is a DDR3-1600 and it gave me hell to run it stable at that speed. I then turned up the FSB and ran the divider so that the RAM was at about DDR3-1300 with the DDR3-1600 timings and voltage; it passes any test I throw at it. I'm thinking of trying out Dominator GT 2000 RAM but running it like at 1800-1900Mhz instead and see if it is stable. Problem is that I don't feel like throwing away money.

Yep, right now Im running the system with 3.1Ghz with the mems relaxed to 1460Mhz and 6-7-7-18. Wich Bios I should use? Now I realize that I haven't told you that im running the P07 Bios, but maybe other is far way better. I don't know, expending that amount of money in my mems and having them like this, is just a pitty.

I know that for a performance RAM those settings can be considered "relaxed", but they are far from relaxed. Regular timings for DDR3-1600 are 9-9-9. I'm pretty sure you can set your RAM to 9-9-9-27-2T and run it at 1600Mhz and it will boot. Then you can start lowering settings one by one, until you find something you are happy with. Another thing you can do is run your CPU at a higher FSB and use a divider to lower your RAM speed; it can actually give you a performance boost depending on how you do it.

Quick question, the FSB to NB strap, what are you using there? This board does not like the 400Mhz setting, so you got to use 333Mhz.

Well Im more than happy! Yesterday I said: "Hm, lest try again if I can manage to achive the same old good OC" and the answer was YES! The Q9550 is RockSolid at 3.4Ghz at 1.275 VDroop Enabled, NB at 1.344v with +1 and VTT at 1.350v. Mems are at 1600Mhz 8-7-7-20-88-2T at 1.65v wich are no perfect but enough for using them 24/7. 400x8.5 and ram divisor at 1:4(400) all this with a Scythe Ninja Rev. B, wich is going to be replaced by a TRUE Black or a Venomous X, I haven't decided yet, both of them have similar to same cooling capabilities but one is eye candy and the other have a good retention kit :P

I will keep pushing the 24/07 OC but I don't thing I could push it more with the actual cooler, 12hrs of Prime-95 get me a max temp of 82°, wich is a lot but since in Argentina is summer (and what a summer, 36° C :S) I believe that for now it's okey, hope with the new cooler temps will go down dramatically.

    Thanks for the help Telo!

I'm trying to work out which BIOS I'm on...
I did update it when I got this board last year, however CPU-Z and other app's say bios is 6.00 PG, but Fox LiveUpdate says G33...
    Which should I believe?
Also, I had an e5200 (@ 3.737) and now a q6600 (@3.33) for 24/7 use, and tomorrow or Monday should have a q9600. (Air cooled) Which bios is best for quads, esp my soon to arrive 45nm one?

You might have both, this board has two BIOS chips. Check which is being used under the OC GEAR page.

PS: Do you still have that G33 file? If so PM me so I can give you my email address. Thanks.

q9650 arrived yesterday. Haven't had much spare time to OC it so just whacked it in (need to reseat HSF I think, uneven temps between cores) and so far have it @ 3.6GHz (400 x 9) with no increase in voltage.
Temps have only risen a couple of degrees over stock!
Looks promising for 4GHz on air, 24/7, when I have time to do it properly.

    Anyone still monitor this thread?

    Hi all,

Just getting a feel for this blackops board. Had it for about 2 weeks. Computer geeks is unloading new boards for 89 bucks each plus shipping. I feel this board had a lot of hype (and In my opinion, deservedly so) and then alot of bad reviews/press from reviewers that had no patience or even a clue as to what they were doing. I have dabbled a bit but I prolly fall into the "don't have a clue" category mentioned above.

I'd like to post screens of my bios settings for the 4.273 OC (on zallman 9700 air) in here and get tips on improvements. Any takers on coaching? I feel I have done a halfway decent job as a 'noob" to this board and O.C'ing in general. My ultimate goal is a prime 95 stable system for 30 minutes @ 4.050 ghz or above and an OC'd 3d mark of 25k or better. I am willing to swap out ram to get there but would like to stick with 2 x 2 gig sticks if possible. My best score in 3dmark06 was 24,482. System was clocked to 427mhz/1709 Mhz FSB/4.273 ghz. If anyone can help or want's to re-ignite this thread, let me know. Running bios P07. I have had successful enough OC's of the bus to run 3dmark06 at 408 x 10, 427 x 10 and 433 x 9.5 among others. Prime95 at those speeds?? lol, yur kidding right?

    Thanks,
    Paul.

(The "ES" at the end of my processor label in CPUz stands for engineering sample).

    1) Dump P07 *unless you like living in the past*
1a) Flash G43, the latest "beta" with bugfixes since P07 times.
1b) People with i7 are going to naturally say we're living in the past, no matter what.

    2) Your settings, at this point, will only be interesting IF you've managed to cook up 460+ FSB on Quad, air-cooled, stable with prime 24 hours. 445-459 FSB settings are useful too, only if stable with prime and OCCT and tons of adobe-flash and other junk running, for weeks/months.
2a) Not every board is the same, of course. Your settings might mean dingo to someone else even with the exact same cpu and memory.

    3) The x48 northbridge is what mostly holds this motherboard back on Quad. Defeat the northbridge and become legend. Defeat the northbridge with only air cooling and become God.
3a) Speaking of northbridge, a slight rise in southbridge volts seemingly affords some more FSB headroom -- check this forum for more associated "WTFs" like that.

Gents, I have 8 gigs of Super Talent W1600UB2G9 memory running in my Black Ops with a Q8400 Proc. I am wondering what is the max safe voltage I can run. Defaukt is 1.64 but I see some are running 2.0V plus. I do not want to fry the memory but I am trying to get this thing stable and I am up to 1.84 and it is still BSOD but it gets further and further on boot as I raise the voltage on the mem. Any suggestions,

    Thanks!

on BO cooling the nb is important, make sure it stays cool enough so you can touch it for seconds without burning your hand and its good enough
then increase nb volts, cause higher nb volts will let you clock mem higher too
so do that first, and then increase mem volts if you still cant get it stable.

some mem is really sensitive about higher vdimm, idk what mem chips your sticks are using... try to find out and check if they are ok at high volts.
make sure they stay cool as well... and increase trfc and tras, those help with large amounts of memory...
