dfi cfx3200-dr/g: no boot with card in 2nd pcie x16 slot

hey there, got a big problem!

got a x1900cf card yesterday, rebuild my 2nd rig today to have crossfire again..

now my cfx, which ran cf for about a year until january, when my first x1900cf died, does not boot if theres a any card in the 2nd pcie slot.

the post-code led is showing 8 from the beginning and nothing happens. sometimes its showing 88 with the first 8 slowly disappearing. no beep, nothing, only 8 and the fans spinning...

this happens with either card, and both cards work well in the first slot.

anyone figure this thing out?? anyone experienced such behavior with the cfx and help me out???

    Try changing/checking the settings under:
    Advanced/Chipset/PCIE
thats all I can think of

    thanks for your reply.

i know those settings relatively well, played around a bit but as i thought it would be it didnt help.

i know that with default settings it should work but it doesnt.

tried older biosses, used f_tester to kill probably corrupted bios entries, everything..

dfi advised me to check without a case, 1 stick of ram in dimm2 slot, vga in that not funktioning slot.. clear cmos for some minutes and note if the boards booting.. unfortunately not..

i think it's broken most likely..

just to check: you've put that 4 pin floppy cable connector in (12v) right?
I assume all DFI boards have it (except mATX)
I have the M2/g version and the default settings are for a single card, /P2P write/GFXworkaround/Txc??-gating/ are the ones I have to change for the CF to work properly

yes i connected that 12v floppy connector.

i have that cd-rom you linked as well

problem is, it doesnt work even with one card in that slot.. and it did i'm shure at default settings...

the m2g-version has sb600 right? you think its an good board? any bugs comparable to the cfx3200-dr/g?

i'll get a spare cfx3200-dr/g board from a friend to try that.. unfortunately he's only owning boards with that famous coldboot-freeze-bug, which mine hasn't. really sad if its broken, was the only board without this bug i know....

    post codes

    Try setting "halt on"-"no errors"
    under Standard Bios settings.
How many different cards have you tried? Try (if you haven't already) one of your 3870's in the cfx3200.

The M2/g that I have is not bad, but not perfect either. Works pretty good with the 1210 opteron. I've never had the
dr/g so it's hard for me to compare.
If you can get a PCIe network card or sound or something you can test the actual slot(PCIe-1 or 4 card will fit into PCIe16)
If all fails there is still a way to get CF
    out of the board(see pic)

halt on no errors sounds good!!
