    24" Monitor shootout @Anandtech

    Source

I didn't read the whole thing but it looks pretty good imo. There's even a input
    lag test.

Far too limited, and involving primarily TN panels which I could not care less about. A good write-up, but not for me.

I just can't stand the refresh rate. I wish there were 120hz monitors because tearing is so annoying in games.

    Amen!

I also do not care about cheap 6-bit color TN panels. PVA's are just better, but S-IPS are superior. Too bad there are not any 24" S-IPS monitors. The original 30" Dell was based on S-IPS technology.

If you are a gamer, the only 24" lcd's for you is TN panels without input lag, benq g2400w, and samsung 245bw, benq is the best as far as input lag goes with around 0-5ms input lag, samsung has 0-15ms lag, the double sight 26" ips panel has about 30ms input lag, which is still tolerable.

My colors look fantastic on my Samsung 940BF, which is a TN panel. I got it for gaming, of course - 2ms response time, etc. Haven't done any calibrating/color changing or anything of the like. Running with a dual-link DVI cable and 75hz @ 1280x1024. I suppose my colors don't look "studio" but I haven't actually seen a PVA or S-IPS panel to compare to. I'm also about to buy the Samsung T220, 22" ws that just came out. I just don't need the more expensive panels for my needs.

I can't wait until i can get a 27 for around $500. I don't care what anyone says... PC games lose to consoles soley because of screen size, i can move all of my inputs/outputs for a pc to a comfy couch except the monitor... i dont like sitting in an office chair playing games (even though im primarily a PC gamer)

though this is nice, I hate how hard it is to pick an LCD... when i ask which LCD to get, people always respond, what are you using it for. I am using it for everything!!! Hello, yes i watch movies, yes i edit video, yes i edit pictures, yes i play games, yes i edit word documents... is there no monitor that is just good? Or is it always a sacrifice? FWIW i have a first gen Dell 2005 FPW that aside from black levels I have always loved.

yeah, I'm finding I'm having the same problem. I've never owned an lcd, but I'm in the market and they all seem to have flaws in at least one area . Where are you sed displays?

I tried lots of LCD's before settling on the FHD 2400. Color is good. Viewing angle are kinda crappy but like Anand said it's the best over all for the fps enthusiast. Wish there was 24" a S-ISP.

It's too bad they didn't include the Soyo 24". It runs between $250 and $300. I love mine. Mine's a PVA panel. Some of the newer ones are TN though. Either way, great 24" LCD's for the cost. Of course, If I had my choice I'd still be using my now broken FW-900 CRT.

Tearing annoys me too. There's this thing called vsync that takes care of it tho.

I think I read that the Iiyama B2403WS was the best TN 24" monitor available. At 500 euros (about 1,000,000 USD) it is a bit pricey though. Iiyama no longer distributes in North America but I suppose one could be shipped over from Europe. For a lag sensitive gamer it might be worth it. Personally I am quite happy with my 20" NEC IPS monitor, but then I don't play action games much. I notice the lag only when I look for it. I don't understand why no one makes a low lag IPS monitor specifically marketed toward gamers. The Anand reference monitor was IPS and very low lag. So it should be possible.

24in glossy s-ips w/ thin matte black bezel and blue leds for $499...higher contrast ratio than my 2007WFP would be nice

tearing is better than the input lag that comes with vsync if you ask me.
