    Quiet Compressor

    I am looking for a quiet compressor to build a setup around. I want to be able to mount this beneath my Lian Li A05B. This is in my bedroom so sound is a priority. I am looking to oc the Q6600 I'm getting soon. I am thinking of using watercooling to limit the sound from the cooling aspect of the build. What are any suggestions and what kind of hp rating will I be looking at? The case is 8.26'' x 15'' x 19.3'' and the mobo is inversely mounted. Any help for a phase noob would be appreciated!

    230V or 110V ?
    230V = NL11F Danfoss
    HP should be around 1/3 hp.

    I've never built a phase change unit, but most water coolers/dispensers/dehumidifiers have very quite compressors ($100-$150)... I can barely hear the ones running in my house, and they run all the time...

    You want to use a phase unit for a Q6600 in your bedroom?! I'd say forget it. Even the 1/3 HP NL11F is horribly loud compared to WC, don't even think about sleeping next to one (I'd know, I have one )
    Anything smaller than that and you won't be able to OC very high... so I'd stick with water if noise is a priority.

    Not just that, pelts don't work very well in these circumstances, seriously they don't.
    However its all in the tuning.

    It's hard to beat the Danfoss NF11FX if you're going to run 115v. My NF11FX is quieter than my brand new kitchen refridgerator...and I didn't skimp on the fridge.

    With a proper fan and condensor added to the mix you can have a very quiet system indeed.

    A NL11F (or in the U.S. a NF11FX) is REALLY quiet. Combined with a nice large condensor and quiet fans (I personally like the Skythe UltraKaze2000 very much) you will get a quite silent system.

    In a TEC setup, the heat (and there is really much of it!) has also to be moved away and so the noise comes from the fans as in a NF11FX-Setup.

    Regards,

    Philipp

    Your NL11F is quiet, yes, however its more like our NF9FX or NF10FX. The NF11FX Is not as quiet as your NL11F; definitly not. However we have 60hz So the 10fx is similar or still stronger then your NL11F.

    So who can I talk to/where can I buy a NF9FX? This seems like the perfect compressor for my build because I do not want to have to run a 230v line because I rent. Though the NF11FX looks equally good, but how much would the few degrees be worth in Db's? If anyone can find a source for either compressors could you contact me. Thanks for the help so far.

    Naperville / Downers Grove, outside of Chicago what embraco model would you suggest looking at? I was looking at a data sheet that said the NE2121Z is the closest model to the NF9FX. I call up my contacts tomorrow to see what kind of fun i can stir up
