Heh...I may have to back off on the K6-2 thing...I haven't been able to get the heatsink off the K6-2-500 yet. LOL. It's been sitting for like 10 years and the TIM has turned into cement...heat, razor blade, and still a no go.

I did bench by K6-2+ 533Mhz today, couldn't sweep all the categories since wprime 1.55 runs slower then on previous versions of wprime. But once I get 8 hours to baby sit the peltier(no thermal cutout) I'll finish off the last gold cups for this chip with 32M SuperPI and 1024 Wprime(damn almost a clean sweep. haha). Kind of sad, I couldn't find my FIC 503+ motherboard so I had to use the DFI K6BV3+/66, not as happy with the OC, I had to relearn everything from the late 1990's! I seem to remember getting this chip to 690, but I can't get 115FSB working on this DFI. The good news is that I found a wholoe bunch of relics to bench looking for the 503+ motherboard.

That said, benching this old stuff is stressful, I think tomorrow I will go back to QX9650 and see if I can raise 3d scores in XP instead of Vista..

Somehow I managed to kill my QX9650. Wasn't even stressing it that hard, it's had a soft life *grumble* Guess I'm out of this competition until I receive a replacement.

Jeez, looking at this I'm temped to fire up my old dual P3-700 Xeon rig.
It will OC to 784 on that old(1997) Supermicro S2DGU board..

Sorry to hear this. Hate to hear of people losing hardware.
On the other hand I'm up to 60+ points and looking at PCMark05 to see if there's more to be gotten..
Seems no one has turned in any results with a X5482 so I'm getting 2 points on anything I run..

It happens, I'm actually more glad the processor died than the board, the board was a gift but the processor was my own cash. It died doing what it does best though, 5350MHz 3D03 run, it was going to be a sick run too for a cascade

no, 4700 you won't do with water..
    Hey, PCMark05..
Info needed, whats the story with this one.
    How important is vid card?
Used a 7800GTX. Will I gain LOTS of points with a card change?
    Also storage and file speed.
Worth going to 2-73 gig SAS drives from a single raptor?
Just used the basic edition. Are you screwed using that?

    More Video power, higher score.

    More disk speed, higher score.

Yes to all of the above. It measures Disk performance and 3D capability.

HD2900's get an insane advantage in PCMARK05 with vidmem tests.

there's a catch tho...Vista only, for that boost.

Basic is fine...I have Pro liscence for all if 'em, but i think Vantage is where it gets a bit tricky...

Ok, thanks pal. I had one 36 gig raptor in there but I have a pair of 36's and 2 SAS Seagate 73 gig that I haven't even tried along with a 2 port Promise SAS card..clueless on setting that up.

A shame. I do have a 1 gig ATI HD2900XT card here but Vista isn't going to be used. I really HATE that OS.. Spent a day with it pulling what little hair I have left out. XP64 bit works fine.

Thanks to both of you for the info and help.

Give Vista a shot for PCMark05 and Wprime. The boost you get in the transparent windows test using Vista Aero theme is GIGANTIC.

Found a way to squeak out some more points from the QX9650 at 4600, well maybe not out of the CPU, but some Ballistix at 660Mhz and alot of timing tweaks helps! I'm out of firepower on modern stuff though, back to the oldies...

Is that why I had to work like crazy to get into the 5 sec range with wPrime32?
Also was surprised how low my score was in PCMark05.. Didn't even submit it.

32.2 points gained so far I will need to install Vista just for wPrime, if it really does add a large improvement maybe I can make a killing in wPrime. Wonder if I can get under 7 seconds 32M and 3:45 1024M with 5400MHz and Vista... hrm.

edit: must find a way to cluster wPrime, then I can utilize many many cores @ work *grin*

"Only" 60.5? haha. Now we are talking, that's the right attitude. I'm not stopping until I hit at least 100 points added maybe 120. So plan on at least beating that. LMAO!

Just joined HWBOT today, so I'm starting with 0 points.

I'm very sure I won't be able to match you guys in points earned, but I'm willing to help XS team as I can and of course have some fun .

I Know there a lot of members like me, don't stand a chance in this contest, but together could make a diference. It's pretty tough to earn hundreds of points alone, but with enogh people to do it, it's much easier.

I wish the best benching for all!!!

Just to clarify that I won't be breaking any rules:

I registered on hwbot with the XS team just recently. I apparently can validate the 3D'06 score that I posted in the top 100 in the hwbot section when I first joined XS. I haven't done that yet.

I also have a score on the 3DGuru forum's top 100, under a different username.

I'd never registered with hwbot before joining the XS team the other day.

So long as I don't try and register my 3DGuru name/score, I'm thinking I can go ahead and validate my current XS hwbot score (done before this contest began) and run a few more benches for the contest.

    Waddya think? Thanks

Edit: just got the word from Fugger. I'm good - Woo hoo!

Thanks! Here's a link to the post by which I submitted my score over at guru3d. It's post 3277 (I think that's what you're after, sorry if I'm misunderstanding.)
