OC my E8400 using Cheap Air...

    My System specs are...

    E8400 tray Q814A015
    ASUS P5K Pro
    2X1 GB DDR2 Transcend AXE RAM 1006
    PSU OCZ 600W
    VGA Albatron 8800GTX
    Noname Cooler for 5 euro

I ordered Thermalright 120 Exreme and still waiting for deliver.
So installed this cooler and start OC..

This cooler is Worse than Intel Stock and temps is a big problem if readings are true...

    So lets Start...

    First Run on Default...

    400 X 9 with lower Vcore...

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=353085

Here can do 20 Min Orthos before Temps reach > 85C

Still at low Vcore but Temps is out of Specs and cant say its Stable For 24/7

The Max OC for Now ....... Stable for some Light Benches....

    More to come Soon....

My Cpu Loves low vcore and when Thermalright 120 Extreme arrives .... this thread will become EXTREME....

    Thanks....

    Thank you all...

I cant say its stable right now because temps are high and causing overheating if for example pass 20 mins of orthos..

But its a good sign for this cpu can handle high speed with such low Vcores.
ASUS is full unmoded and on default BIOS settings.

I think 4500 for 24/7 is possible if i dont hit wall on higher speed....

Just Wait for my EXTREME cooler and we together will find my CPU limmits on air.

For 24/7 i Use 4100 Mhz to be sure for the heath of this wonderfull BABY...

    I love my new SETUP.....

Ok, my new cooler (Thermalright Ultra 120 EXTREME) just arrived.

It's time to push my CPU but my target is to stay at low vcore and NOT PASS 1.385V.
I dont want to Degrade this baby, at least NOT yet....

First stop 4500 with ~1.3125 from BIOS...

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=354805

    AQUAMARK ....

    3DMark01.....

Next Stop 4617 with ~1.3265 from BIOS

CPU-Z Validation with same Vcore.... :T:

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=356889

    ~4650 MHZ Run Next Stop

    OK...
Now its Time to break 10" SPI...

For all those asking me about CPU Stepping is.... Q814A015...

    What a nice chip .

How about the temp now, with the new cooler?
A MAX fsb test would be nice too, too bad you have that MB .

damm! my new e8400 Q810A037 "just " do it 3,6 @ 1.20 vcore ( 1,18 with orthos) but is much better that the "old" Q746A500 that need more vcore for same speed.

    Very nice chip...

Love to see what it can do with a bit more voltage.

    Thank you all my friends....

I have still have temp issues but with chipset now...

Still my system remains at full aircooling and chipset heatshinks are burning when raisinig Voltage to keep FSB higher than 520 Mhz..
This makes it Unstable, and the only way to continue raising CPU OC is to install more FANS near the chipset area.
I have near 27C room temp (Hot Weather here in Greece).
Watercooling will be ready probably next week, so i choose a safe OC for 24/7 which is 4400MHz and made some Bench for you.....

A quick stability test in Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit...

I think its ok for a full aircooled system for now...
