    Oldschool competition

Recently, I found my sweet old X850XT, and I remember we had quite a benchmark round on XS with this series, I aired my thought of giving it a shot on my new setup to stephen, one of the oldtimers, and he said it would be unfair...
(He beated me back in the days, PURE luck, shh )

So how about it boys...? Should we make a round with them 45nm's?

    I've made this thread as I just noticed mikeguava's signature... : - )

X850XT - what a great card. Mr. Grayskull did such an outstanding job with this card. Always game for some old school GFX benching

That kind of narrows it down alot about who can enter. How about something like for cpu's you can only use like pre core 2 and pre AM2, and vid cards have to be Geforce 6000 series and less or X#00 series and less. That way it really is old school, not just old school vid cards on core 2's. Just a suggestion.
Not much to say right now.

    Wink

I would love to see the last of agp, on cpus never mastered, in the software world or hardware.
To some people, even my humble hot setup with a 2.8e and a vid card that just caught up to part of its potential last year is a bit of scowling pain. I am quite patient mind you .
Would really like to see o/c pros tinkering with a setup like that, socket 478, oh so antique with the pin grid array, agp, DDR and numbers not as phony as a core2 duo.

This is where I keep my old presscott, but it actually is dynamical with my msi board. AGP benefits none, but the bus is oc..to go back to regualr speed (8x) the overdive option returns for card. Why why why.... anyway...
This machine has a secret.... it has bothered me for quite some time now, it started with the 90nm prescotts...2mb cache would blow the freakin doors of a core 2 duo, even with above humble numbers on small overclock...anyone else know what I am saying...?

The problem with this is that the Core 2 architecture stomps the older architectures and you'd be hardpressed to get many top benchers to purchase and bench old gear. Hard to find guys benching 65nm Core 2 for that matter

I'd be in on that, 3.2Ghz p4 that does 3.8Ghz at stock voltage, msi 865 neo-2 mobo, corsair xms ddr400 1Gb, 6800GT that runs at ultra clocks just fine.... bring it on. I think it scored 12k ish in 03... I remember when the 939 chips came out, I was like so what.

    Its my moms pc now.
