Talking GeForce 9900 GTX & GTS Slated For July Launch

    Thanks ctx-Gamer for this:

For the high-end enthusiasts segment., Nvidia will launch GeForce 9900 GTX and 9900 GTS in July to replace the 9800 GX2 and GTX. There is a die shrink on G92 for GeForce 9800 GT cards. Nvidia has also cancelled plans to launch GeForce 9800 GTS because there are simply too many high end GPUs. We told you earlier, GeForce 9600 GSO will launch on May 13th which is just a rebrand of the 8800 GS. The rest of the mainstream and value GPUs like 9500 GT, 9500 GS, 9300 GE and 9300 GS will come in June-July timeframe.

The first 2 models from the GeForce 9900 series will be 9900 GTX and 9900 GTS.It seems Nvidia has decided to launch them as early as July to counter RV770 and steal the performance crown away. Nvidia has earlier confirmed GT200 existence and revealed that the GPU has about 1B transistors. Our sources are suggesting a 512-bit memory interface with GDDR3 memories for GeForce 9900 GTX using P651 PCB and a 448-bit memory interface for the GeForce 9900 GTS.

I really hope these cards don't turn out to be a 55nm respin of the G92 core...

I'd love to be able to finally get a single GPU card that smashes the 8800 GTX.

I don't even care anymore if it costs me $600, I just want a card that blows my old 8800 GTS 640 out of the water

I sure as hell hope someone releases 1 great card again, thats single core with a ton of power to it.

getting sick of cards like the 3870 and 9800GTX which arent true high end cards...

    1B chip @ 65nm + 512bit GDDR3 = worse power hog than R600.

I don't see anything in that article that confirms that GT200 = 9900GTX. I think some of you are getting excited over nothing. I find the November GT200 rumours with a possible summer 55nm refresh of the 9800GTX a lot more convincing. I mean, cmon. You really think they are going to make such a slight change in the naming for such a major architectural overhaul? Has Nvidia ever done this? If anything they exaggerate differences with naming conventions not downplay them.

Only speculation at this point, but that's what I'd bet on.

As far as these being just a G92 refresh, how do you explain the 512 and 448-bit buses? Would there really be that much of an improvement simply through a core refresh that Nvidia needs to increase the bus size?

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

I have to agree with you on this. Is there any confirmation that the GT200 is the 9900GTX?

probably why they respun the g92 on a new pcb design with massive power management. planning ahead for exactly that.

    An assumption/misunderstanding of the rumors.
    9900GTX/GTS should be the G92b.
This whole thing got out of hand when one person thought the July launch meant GT200.
