Looks fine, but I didnt mind about the official part actually.

I dont mind at all, as long as such nice threads are around Im fine.

Just quit AOD stability test after 2 hours and lowered Voltage to 1.2Vcore read by CPU-Z. Would be nice if it turns out to be stable ghehe.

I know there's no AutoXpress in BIOS,

But there'some sort of P2P option which enables 'Hyper SLI function' according to Sapphire BIOS manual. Although I guess it should be called CF but well.

    This is what autoxpress does:

    From wikipedia. Link

    I agree with you

"Allowing point-to-point transfer between multiple-video card setup" seems to be related to "P2P b/w Primary/Secondary" in the bios.

YES and fanboys are generally 13 yr old fathers of 3 living on gov't dole, they DO . Even after stating I prefer AMD for what I believe are solid reasons and NOT bashing Intel (though I have solid reasons for doing so IMHO) I would get flamed to no bloody end and I wans't trying to convert anybody. It's like an Intel verbal jihad.

Intel is responsible for global Jihad. and I'm an infidel. I am sure of it.

The above statement is facetious. And I apologize for going off topic, I just had to vent, won't be doing it again

    something died...

well something has gone wrong with my setup (check sig, it runs wcg anytime im not rendering video)... been working flawlessly past several months, so much so that i haven't bothered with new bioses or visiting any tech sites....

board gave me a warning, it rebooted randomly on 2 occassions in the last 3 days and got stuck somewhere on bootup (i didnt open case to check the code)... hitting reset returned everything to normal

now this morning i wake up to the same situation, but it's not booting at all... open case to see 8.8. in code... i tried flipping battery upside down for 15 mins.... been messing with it for 2 hours, nothing is working

should i give up and get an RMA? EDIT: i need to do something ASAP, i have work that's not getting done

I have been playing some more & have found out on my set-up that
CPU Host/HTT Adjustment Gap 1mhz gives more stable overclocks.
2mhz wont get into windows at same OC & 3 gets into windows but BSOD soon after.

    W00T, nice going there.

By the way, did anyone notice multiplier deviders aren't working on DFI? I tried to run 12.5 multi on NB, but no way the thing booted!

I think I set HEX value correctly. After 0F you continue with 10, 11~1F etc right?

Anyway, Im still in testing progress. But my chip seems to hate high Mhz but loves low Volts lol. And NB ran 2.4Ghz stock Vnb 7 hour AOD stability test without issues.

System is already testing for 1.5 hours AOD stability test.

2.7Ghz with CPU-Z reporting 1.248Vcore, AOD says 1.2375Vcore. 2.4Ghz NB at stock Vnb. Load is like 34C. Ill keep on going like this for a while. I still hope for a better OC's although Ive to be honest such a cool running Phenom is just awesome.

I just did some re-reading things and Ill try at some point HT multi at 7 and check HTref out again. Apparently dropping HT multi might push HTT OC's, but no multi OC'ing or something.

    Lowest voltages for 2.8Ghz/2.0Ghz
    CPU-VID: 1,3125V (Bios) 1,351V (DMM)
    NB-VID: 1,15V (Bios) 1,144V (DMM)
    CPU-TEMP: 63°C coredamage, 60°C max prime95
    Prime Time: 22hrs

    Lowest voltages for 2.8Ghz/2.2Ghz
    CPU-VID: 1,3125V (Bios) 1,354V (DMM)
    NB-VID: 1,25V (Bios) ? (DMM)
    CPU-TEMP: 63°-64°C coredamage, 62°C max prime95
    Prime Time: 12hrs

I use the following procedure for stability testing.

    1. Sandra Memory Latency (that triggers a freeze here very quickly)
    2. CoreDamage for a few minutes to see what temps i will get
    3. Prime95 together with 3dmark06, to generate a very high power consumption
    4. Prime95 longtest
    5. Application testing (Surfing, Openoffice, Antivir) for a while.

    Lowest voltages for 2.8Ghz/2.4Ghz

1.3125V: passed 1, power off at coredamage
1.325V: passed 1, power off at coredamage
    1.35V: passed 1 and 2, failed prime95 immediate
    1.3625V: passed 1 and 2, failed prime95 after 3mins
1.3875V: passed 1 and 2,3 power off during prime run after ~30mins.
    1.4V: passed 1 and 2,3 failed prime95 after 48mins
    1.4125V: passed 1 and 2,3 failed prime95 after 4:50hrs
    1.425V: passed 1 and 2,3 failed prime95 after 5:30hrs

    Trying with 1.35V CPU-VID

    1.35V: prime failed immediate
    1.375V: prime failed immediate

    Back to 1.3125V CPU-VID

    1.4325V: passed 1 and 2,3 failed prime95 after ~9hrs

With this high NB voltage I get temps up to 66°C (cpu). All those latest tests failed on the second core. This core is not a weak one, on the M3A I could run 3GHz on that core with ~1.35V. If I use too low CPU-VID prime95 normaly fails on the weaker cores 3 and 4. I suspect core 2 does not like high temperatures.

    Trying with 1.325V CPU-VID

    1.4325V: passed 1 and 2,3 failed prime95 after ~13hrs

Your NB works alot better than mine here. I played with the NB-DID while i was tweaking p-states. Anything beside 1 as a divider did not work here also.

I reached around 270MHz ref HT wise but with not so high CPU multis (~11). With higher multis I can use up to 260MHz.
My 9600BE topped out at around 285MHz.

    Lowest [/B] voltages for 2.8Ghz/2.0Ghz
    CPU-VID: 1,3125V (Bios) 1,351V (DMM)
    NB-VID: 1,15V (Bios) 1,144V (DMM)

    NB-VID: 1,25V (Bios) ? (DMM)
    CPU-TEMP: 63°-64°C coredamage, 62°C max prime95
    Prime Time: 12hrs

    Lowest voltages for 2.8Ghz/2.4Ghz
    CPU-VID: 1,3125V (Bios) 1,356V (DMM)
    NB-VID: 1,4325V (Bios) ? (DMM)
    CPU-TEMP: 65°-66°C coredamage, 66°C max prime95
Prime Time: failed after ~9hrs (with 1.35V CPU-VID after 15hrs)

I don't want to use such a high NB voltage so I will not run my nb with a 12x multi.

    Lowest voltages for 2.9Ghz/2.2Ghz

    Starting with CPU-VID 1,35V and NB-VID 1,25V

    1,35V passed 1-3 and primed for 15min
    1,325V passed 1-3 and primed for 1:33min
    1,3125V passed 1-3 failed prime95 after 1hr
    1,31825V passed 1-3 failed prime95 after 0:51hrs
    1,325V passed 1-3 failed prime95 after 8:31hrs
    1,33125V passed 1-3 and priming since 5hrs

This looks very pleasent here seems i can run 2.9GHz at a slightly higer voltage (+0.0125V) i required for 2.8GHz. Yesterday I tried a few different methods of applying TIM. I gained ~3°C better temps with a thicker layer of AS5. So currently it looks like it's very essential to keep the temps below 60°C.

Nice write up of your results justapost.

Looks like Phenom differs a lot regarding Voltage requirements and Mhz yield.

Also I think BIOS's are still NOT optimized completely to get the best out of Phenom. For example, Tony's Phenom article over at TTR. 790FX-DQ6 did very nice with HTT, but DFI didnt.

HTT has, as far as Im aware, nothing to do with the CPU. So I really think this is a BIOS problem. At least, I hope. Otherwise the board wouldnt be able to handle it. But that's not making a lot of sense since I could hit minimal 290Mhz with a X2 plugged in. But tbh, I didnt do a lot of testing with HTT clocking though. But whether HTT clocking can be fixed by BIOS or not, if we look at DDR1066 mode OCíng it's still very clear BIOS's need some fine tuning.

So lets hope for a better BIOS soon shall we.

Also, I was wondering since people talk about 'Red mode' etc in AOD... It seems it enables some sort of faster CF mode or so, is this possible to set by BIOS too?

After 4 hours of AOD stability test I quit it. 1.248Vcore by CPU-Z seems stable!

Testing 1.21Vcore by CPU-Z now. If that's stable Im at one side very pleased and on the other side pissed as . I mean, I prefer running 1.3V and hitting 2.8Ghz~2.9Ghz over 1.21V or even lower and only 2.7Ghz anytime. On the otherhand, maybe heat was an issue after all and now I know it does such low Volts it might do better.

Have you tried CoreDamade Rammsteiner? That tool heats up the cpu very quickly. I get CPU-Temps around 65°C after two minutes. My coretemps are ~7°C below the cpu temp btw.

For good ref HT results I used DFI 307 bios other versions did not run stable above 250MHz.

Hmm my testings clearly showed that the max ref HT is cpu dependant. Of course also bios dependant.
Same with X2's, reached ~392MHz with an BE2400 and ~405MHz with an 4850e on the M3A.

No the current DFI and Sapphire bioses do not have so called AutoXPress settings in the bios.

    Big DFI fanboy here too

I was wondering how well is phenom overclocking without AOD? Im more old school and prefer bios overclocking only
