    #2 E8500 Q748A212 + Commando under 8" but...

Today i tried my new E8500, the second Q748A212 and another Commando
The OS wasn't the best, an xp pro sp2 OS mid tweaked, i'll try again with ma 2003 server OS.
Anyway i'm happy about this chip, atm i'm vcore limited on Commando, anyone know an OVP mod? I need more than 1.92v

    Setup:

    E8500 #2 Q748A212 @ 1.92v
    Asus Commando #2 Rev C2
    Vcore 1.92v, Vfsb 1.55v, Vnb 1.8v, Vdimm 2.6v, Vsb 1.75v, Vsb 1.2v
    Crucial Ballistix 2x1024 (5-4-4-12/5-5-5-15) @ 2.6v
    Ocz Powerstream 520W (Vio 3.4v)
    Ati Radeon 1600 Pro
Cpu Cooling By Little Devil's Pot @ -112/115°C
    Nb Cooling Homemade @ -35°C
    Bench Table By Dimastech

    Cpu-z @ 5890.05Mhz

    Validation HERE

    Spi1m @ 8.000s

I was under 8" at least 3 or 4 times....my best was 7.969 but every time that spi finished system was unstable for capture... i'm at limit, i need more than 1.92v but i don't have any ovp mod for my commando...
i'll try with 2003 server and i hope to find the mod
    See u soon!

You gotta lucky with E8x00 series CPU's and commando. Some CPU's can't even hit 500 Mhz Fsb.

Take a picture (high res) of the PCB area where you've already done the vCORE mod, and send me it. I'll tell you.

PS: For benching Spi 1M, you may wish to use Windows XP theme (Luna) instead of Windows Classic.
    Best Regards,

nice results , why don't you just try with vdoop maybe when u apply vdroop, ovp will disappear (if I read carefully u only applied vcore mod?)
    Born to overclock

Oh no, maybe i missed to write it... i've vdrop and vcore mod, but my ovp stopped me @ 1.92v
I tried to turn down vdrop vr but nothing changed...
Another strange thing is that till 1.78-1.8 from bios get 1.9 for exaple on windows but if i set more from bios i get less on windows...ex. 1.85 bios = 1.8 on windows
So i need to set under 1.8 and go up with vcore vr but when i arrive to 1.92 ovp shutdown income
I'll try with my spotted pin 11 i've 2 commando in case i'll remain with one...

On p5b-dlx, when you set vcore lower from bios, ovp also drops , when i set 1.75 from bios, max vcore is 1.92 but like when i set 1.65, ovp drops up to 1.88v , had not have time to work on 8500 so p5b-dlx still sits there

Is there really an OVP on the Commando? This is the first time i´ve heared about it. No chance to avoid it with VDroop Mod?

The cause is because the vcore trimmer value is high in the OVP.
The resistance value which is set raise.

In my case set about 9.8Kohm

    ex) Bios set 1.75V + vcore trimmer(9.8Kohm) = 1.984V

    huh

mig21 what's up with the timings there man

how did you do an OVP mod??

i got a sweet board as well....628MHz FSB screen on air cooling with E8500....i won't need more than 1.9v for 6Ghz but problem is hotness of this CPU ..........if this second board i have can also manage -140C i should be ok for 6GHz otherwise probably not
