I see that you are using the yet unreleased Corsair HX1000. What are your impressions?

I like it alot, stable power/rails, and no problems so far. This skulltrail system really puts PSU's to the test, especially when I add multiple cards or GX2 pushed hard. I have used the HX1000 as the main PSU on the rig for some other testing as well as on other systems and it makes the cut for sure. Always use a sliverstone 1KW or silverstone 1.2KW, and now this new CORSAIR HX1000 PSU now for all of my benching.

    Hats off Vince

You are in a league of your own

Too bad skulltrail sucks for anything but cinebench and wprime ^^

Maybe you are lucky and 3DMark vanatge likes 8 cores.

Oh my God ... 6GHz ST benching ... It is just amazing Vince, congrats on those WPrime records too

Despite the fact that someone mentioned it above, it's really too bad that ST sucks in all the benches apart from CineBench, and WPrime ... Although, I think it's really early for someone to make a conclusion ...

    Guys,

We are coming with new BIOS and new OC parameters, we totally dissected the specifications of FB-DIMM, we found the sweet spots.
We are able to get the latencies as short of DDRII.
All of this with READ and WRITE unsynch and happening in the same time! Imaging that you can send your DirectX buffers to the GPU, while you can start processing your next frame, without the memory bus being lock in read or write mode, as DDRII does. We had to find the sweet spot for Latencies.
I will let you know when we are ready to release it, Erik, one of our BIOS Genious is completing the magic.

Very exciting stuff coming, even on non heavy threaded workloads, it will be very difficult to beat skulltrail.

we are adding , , and

    who?

    Seriously for a minute:
I've been wondering what would happen if you used high end dual core wolfdales instead of the quad cores..
Feed the buss with 2 cores instead of 4 on each side..
    Thoughts?

You mean Dual Core wolfdale XEONs?
I did not look at this, what a weird idea ...
I would not recommend to spend so much money on the board and put only half of the legs inside.

I am not even sure that it will boot, I got to check tomorrow to see if the BIOS support it.

Think on it this way and if what I say sounds dumb then so be it:
The ST is the only Intel based board that will do SLI
For gaming 8 cores are not needed at this time
I have 2 dual socket Clovertown machines.
When I first set up back at the end of 2006 I only had 3 cpu's so ran one system with just one processor.
The work I do, medical research is done by both machines and there is a "points " award for work done.
The machine with 2 cpu's would do app 25,000 per day in this program and the machine with one cpu would do 14.5-15,000
I came to the conclusion that the buss was the area holding up the system, or lets say not letting it run at it's top capabilities.
This was a 5000X (Greencreek) chipset.
This makes me wonder if using 2-dualcore wolfdales might see benefits in gaming on this system.
Disclaimer: I'm an old self taught mick so go easy when you tear my arguments apart..

Well from one self taught Mick (a bit younger) to another (lol) I would guess that since the game won't use the cores anyway it would use the same bandwith available. Regarless of how many cores you put on.

    Does this make sense?

    BTW, well done Vince.
