need help. p5k premium no post after power off when using 4 dimm

i just installed 4x1g ram on to my asus p5k premium board, using the 0404 bios.

after a few days, i noticed that if i power down the pc, it wont boot up(no post, no beep) when next i turn it on(but everything is fine if i hit the restart button, or reboot in windows). it also works well if i only plug 3 dimms onto the board.

if i turn it off, i will have to take 1 dimm out, makes it boot(everything went back to default setting at the post screen), get into the bios screen(all my settings are still here), and save&exit. after exit, the power will be shut down again, i need to put the ram i took out before back in, in order to have 4g ram running...

i have treid almost all settings in cmos, and all version bios for this board, but nothing helped. also i have tested with prime95 blend, passed 8+ hours. memtest86+ dos version passed 2 times. all seemed stable enough. temps are pretty low too.
the system also crashes like once a twice a day(not even under heavy load, just bowesing the web)

    heres my hardware and setting:
    asus p5k premium
    intel 8400
    2x1g team xtreem 667 3-3-3-8, d9 gmh
    2x1g super talent 800 4-3-3-8, (d9 too i believe)
    ocz 600w psu
    8800gts 256mb

    settings:
    fsb: 455mhz
    multiplier: 9
    strap: auto/333
    memory: 545mhz, 5-5-5-15
    vcore: 1.368v
    vdimm: 2.1
    vnb: 1.55
    others are all auto.

did anyone have a smiliar issue, or know why this happens?

Memtest 2 times pass is really not enough, try the rig with only 2 dimms of the same set for a few days, then try the other set... I hope you are actively cooling the dimms as 4 dimms can build up quite some heat and can lead to instability...

It's never a good idea to mix different types of ram and surely not running them way out of spec then... did you try running them in sync with the FSB ? Strap 400 ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

it worked very well with only 2 dimms, i have been using 2 dimms with this board for 6 months, got no problem at all. i have an ocz memory cooler with 2 fans on it, should be enough, and cpu is water cooled.
i have read its not a good idea mix different types of ram, but right now, this 4 sticks are all i get, i am planning to get 4x2g when p45 finally comes out. run them sync with the fsb gets the same results, no matter what the strap and ratio is.
btw, i forgot to mention that they couldnt boot after a shut down even at the stock(super low) setting, 800mhz 5-5-5-15.
and i dont have strap 400, since i am using a bios prior to the 8x00 series released. the later bios(0504) overclocks memory way worse than the one i am using.
    thanks for the reply

OC is nice but needs to be stable at all times...sometimes you have to give in and set for a lower clock... try eg 9x 400 and ram at 800Mhz then 4-4-4-12... if that still fails I really suspect one of ya dimms is giving in...

Also you are watercooling... is there a fan that blows on the NB ?

I made a post for ya in the P5K Premium thread regarding the best bios to use with 4 dimms and the E8400, will wait to see what the other users recommend...

Sounds like a dead memory. Test each stick individually. If one of the stick causes a no boot, throw it out.

Think the board boots then with only 64bit (single channel) instead of 128 bit (dual channel)... you really need to torture each stick till hopefully one caps out...

i would think its the motherboard couldnt handle 4 sticks very well, maybe time for get a dfi lp lt x38? or get a 2x2gb instead?

2 x 2 gb would be better as you will run into trouble too with ya current ram on any mobo and secondly 4gig of ram is way cheaper than a mobo... just make sure you buy PC8000 ram as 2gb dimms don't clock as easy as 1Gb variants... (just in case to have some headroom)

    "2x1g team xtreem 667 3-3-3-8, d9 gmh
    2x1g super talent 800 4-3-3-8, (d9 too i believe)"
here is your answer. you've mixed 2 different memory modules (freq. and latencies) + I doubt that your team extremes enjoys running 545mhz, 5-5-5-15 with only 2.1v ++ I don't know if you have noticed but your mobo has the memory slots colored in black and yellow. the black ones are optimized for higher clocks & tighter timings.
so you must use your memories in a dual channel config.
    probably you have used:
    slot#1_____slot#2____slot#3____slot#4
    TeamX____SuperT___TeamX____SuperT
    which is wrong!
make the changes and see what you got than.

LE: 1.55 is enough for NB, and i don't recommend pushing more voltage especially if you want to run your config. 247

thanks for the info. it sounds reasonable it could be a problem of the mixed modules. as far as i know, the team xtreem would run 2x1gb 1121mhz 5-5-4-8 at 2.1v stable(i have been using this set for 5 months, blend and memtest86+ tested, and no crashes, reboots or bsod whatsoever). for the super talent, i have yet tested its limit, but they can handel 545mhz 5-5-5-15 2.1v easily(also blend and memtest86 tested).
for the dimm banks, i knew the black ones are for better overclocking and performance, so i put the team ones in the black banks, and the super talent ones in the yellow one. like:
    slot#1_____slot#2____slot#3____slot#4
    SuperT____TeamX____SuperT____TeamX
but again, it still doesnt boot after shutdown, no matter what dimm/combination i put them in.
