    How much HW have you lost over the years?

    As of today I have to add a Seagate 7200.10 Barracuda ES 320GB to the list, it's been acting up and today it seems I might have lost it for good. It was part of my matrix raid 0/5, I hope what's on my raid5 still works.

    In chronological order then.

    MSI K7T266 pro, died all of a sudden
    2x Maxtor Maxline 2, 250GB
    E6400, did not like the VTT mosfet burning on my mobo
    Asrock s775 Dual VSTA, burned VTT mosfet because of too much graphite
    Asus P5B DLX, never worked out of the box (or my dead cpu killed it, unlikely)
    2GB of DDR2, D9 GKX

    So as you might suspect, my cruncher is currently down

    EDIT
    Fixed typo in the title

    I have a 7300GT that's having this weird problem.
    Refuses to work in a 16x PCI-e slot. (at 16x link width)
    Works fine in the 2nd PCI-e slot at 4x link width.
    Tried it on 2 boards already .

    My tally is pretty small, actually.

    eVGA 680i A1 (my fault)
    1x 1Gb Corsair Value Select DDR2 667Mhz RAM stick (my fault. Plugged it in backwards into my new X38 board (since the slots were upside-down compared to the 680i board). And yes, this was just after I broke said 680i ).

    And... that's pretty much it

    ASUS A7V600 - death cause: voltage spike + crappy PSU
    ASUS A7V880 - death cause: DOA PSU i got in exchange for the first one
    Samsung 639MB HDD - death cause: I opened it to see if there are really spinning plates inside.
    Radeon 9800PRO - death cause: silicon popped off the substrate during removing the heatsink. It was most likely dead before.
    ASUS P5N32-E SLI - death cause: bad flash, not my fault.
    2x 1GB of Cellchock D9s - death cause: Thermalright HR-07s
    GeForce 8400GS - death cause: XtremeSystems Cheapazchips 3D Challenge - I might be able to revive it

    Kill count: 7
    I hope it won't increase any time soon.

    @Martinj - You really had bad luck with Striker Extreme boards. I tried killing a P3 by dropping it off the deck (about 15 feet), but it survived It broke part of the case (plastic), but the computer was fine.

    If I counted all the super 7 stuff it would be scary. I went through a big pile of dfi nf2 boards. The nf7s was another popular whipping boy for me. Some ti4600's and 3 X800XT cards. I've killed my share but my biggest loss was 4 years ago when my place burned flat.

    An Intel D845PESV is the only thing I can think of that I killed. It's not really dead--but it's not alive. In short, overheating led to some problems. Killed the second DDR DIMM in it and then I had immense instability. Yeah--bad VRegs IIRC.

    I don't remember losing a lot of hardware....... Lost my marbles though.

    Leadtek A380 - 5950 Ultra (Leadtek replaced it)
    Enermax Noisetake 600W PSU (Enermax replaced it)
    CoolerMaster 380W PSU that came with a case (I just tossed it)
    A 74GB Raptor (haven't tried to RMA it yet)
    10 sticks of Crucial Ballistix (2X512MB DDR2 800, 2X512MB DDR2 1000, 2X1GB DDR2 1000, 4X1GB DDR2 1066) (some of these have been replaced and I still need to RMA some....)

    EDIT: Two 975 motherboards (One Intel, and one I can't remember.)

    wow... no way i could remember every piece i've killed

    lets see... sum up what i can remember real quick
    Asus Max Formula SE and a QX6850 during an LN2 run with a friend, this was probably the biggest hit i've taken..

    DFI Infinity P965-S during an LN2 bench on the NB with same friend that i was with when i killed the QX and MaxFor. going for 675FSB,,, only reached 625 when a little vreg flew off and hit my friend right in the safety glasses lol. a few things popped and fried... weak

    3x ASUS P5B Deluxe
    2x ASUS P4C 800 Deluxe
    3x Intel E6600
    4x Intel P4 2.4C
    a few Athlon XPs
    i physically lost a P4 2.6C, its somewhere in my room... its been missing for 3 years though =\ probably still works

    a lot of PSUs

    5 or 6 sets of Crucial 10th aniv
    20-22 sets of regular ballistix
    man did those things clock high,,, even if just for short periods of time

    i killed a couple video cards...

    can't really remember anything else right now

    Hrm. I haven't been involved with the benching scene up until recently so my list of hardware is rather short.

    3x Socket A motherboards. I forget the company name and model
    First -> Lightening strike through the phone line
    Second -> Cracked PCB while mounting evap
    Third -> Tossed in trashcan after a mineral oil experiment

    4x1GB Buffalo PC2-8000 Firestix -> D9GKX just dies
    2x1GB Crucial 10th Anniv Sticks -> G9GMH just dies
    4xHD3850
    1st -> Dead after 30 minutes
    2nd -> Died with EX38-DQ6
    3rd -> Tore off a crucial PWM resistor
    4th -> Not certain
    Gigabyte EX38-DQ6 -> Insulated up for 3d benching and it died.

    This list will easily double in the next 3 months, got the benching bug

    About 4-5 motherboards. a lunchbox full of dead ram. A X800XT PE. A half dozen boards. A old ATI 9200SE. 3-4 PSU's.
    If i keep thinking I'll get depressed LOL. No dead chips though that I can recall.

    And of course...the vaporizing P4 http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...68346151253701

    Oh and don't forget the...self-destructing stolen Intel motherboards and their GPS tracking chips http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...94162832712796

    Except for a couple cheap desk sets (keyboard, mouse) and a 4-port kvm switch - none.

    Good hardware never dies, it just gets recycled and comes back as a Cylon.

    Edit - may not count but have a DS4 mobo that only runs at stock - so I guess you could call that defective.
