    Microcenter Q9450 OEM $299.99

    Microcenter Q9450 OEM $299.99

$299.99 with $50 dollar off instant coupon when added to cart. No coupon code necessary. Or $50 gift card if purchased in store.

    http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0286543

    3 year warranty too.

Seems like a pretty good deal, something at least I would consider.

I think Microcenter must have had some kind of deal with Intel to offer 3 year warranties on these, but it is clearly stated that it is a 3 year manufactures warranty.

Yeah, OEMs don't have the warranty that the retail version does. However, I think it is MC that gives the warranty, not Dell. Never had a problem with MC in returns or exchanges. Also, in my years of computing and OCing, I have not killed a cpu - yet.

This deal is too good to pass up.

The 3 year OEM warranty deal is due to the fact Intel could not provide retail boxes fast enough.

And since most of us (or at least some of us) are going to overclock anyway... what good is the warranty...?

It means, if you overclock, say bye bye to your warranty.
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

So are the printed boxes in shortage then?
Sounds a bit strange if they can haul out OEM chips and give 3 years warranty, why not sell them as retail then?

because intel gives preference to system builders over the retail market, they just buy the ones intended for system builders because intel cant currently cover the demand for both.

The boxes actually print a 90-Day warranty however if you give intel a call you will find your batch comes under a 3 year.

Aww... too bad. I think they had one "potential" chip in their stock. Here's wondering who else ordered from them.
