    New AM2+ boards

Ok, I found it time to put this in a new thread now before it gets lost left right and center. However, I decided only to put up most interesting boards and/or brands. After all this is XS and we're not looking for current budget/HTPC boards revised with another LAN slot, WiFi etc.

Ill list the chipsets used as well so we know for future reference the boards we want and the ones we should avoid combined with certain hardware.

    Anyway, enjoy.

    DFI:
DFI shows a lot of new AM2+ boards at Computex, a new feature (ABS) and a new line (JR). Lets hope BIOS updates get more attention now they show off these boards.

    DFI DK NF750a SLI-M2RS (nF750a)
    DFI DK 790GX-M2RS (RS780D/SB750)
    DFI DK 790FXB-M2RS (790FX/SB750)
    DFI Blood Iron 780G-M2R (RS780/SB700)
    DFI JR 790GX-M2RS (RS780D/SB750)
    DFI Blood Iron GF8300-M2R (MCP78U)

    Source
    Source II

A few boards are for pre-order but it lists a DFI Lanparty UT 790FX-M2RS as well, but never heard about it.

    ASRock:
Also ASRock has a few boards. Although Ive no idea what ASRock already had released and what not, I think the boards listed below are the only ones to be released now:

    ASRock ODE790GX-WiFi (RS780D/SB750)1
1:This new chipset supports the AMD's Over Drive Extreme Technology, which is a real boost to system performance.

    Biostar:

    Biostar TA790GX A2+ (RS780D/SB750)2
    2:The GX3 has 128MB DDR3 sideport memory and the GX has 64MB DDR2

    Foxconn:
    Foxconn Quantum Force Destroyer (nF780a)
    Foxconn A7DA-S (RS780D/SB750)
    Foxconn A79A-S (790FX/SB750)

    Source

    XFX:
    XFX 750a SLI (nF750a)
    XFX 8300 (MCP78U)

    Source

Ill update this post when I find more boards to post. Ill only note motherboards if there's clear information about it and also only the ones from good brands and/or with good chipsets. So no real budget aimed boards are going to be posted.

Hey... box one of those up and send it over please.

I promise I'll send you money...

(I'm glad I waited. Now I can maybe get something new and very nice... throwing this Gigabyte garbage into a scrap pile. Goodbye $200.00, 2 months, and a lot of headaches.)

Meh, if only Asus would give us the same nice looking boards as they give Intel

I mean, Asus Pinotnoir, Asus Maximus II Formula and Asus Rampage Extreme are some damn nice looking boards.

On the otherhand, it's been, at least for my idea, a bit too quiet around Asus and AM2+ ROG boards... Maybe we'll actually get some nice looking 790FX/SB750, RS780D/SB750 and 780a boards.

PS Yes I know it's not all about looks, but we all know these ROG series are quite rocking. If they look good as well, what else do we need

If asus does 790Fx/SB750 for an ROG board I would buy it the instant it got on newegg. Would have done that with the Crosshair II Formula but I was slightly short on cash atm. Now with that Intel system coming in for me to build and test I gotta hold off on new hardware...

And who doesn't want 3DM06, the greatest game ever

Oldguy, did you see the new Pinotnoir? It's damn sexy. Just google it

    [EDIT]
    Pinoitnoir
    Asus Rampage Extreme
    Asus Maximus II Formula II
Just examples, not promoting Intel boards, just trying to show to people who didnt know yet why I think Asus should release such AM2+ boards

The board for my intel setup is actually the Rampage Formula.

The Pinot Noir looks amazing, but I'm just not fond of bright flashy colors. If the bright red got switched to a dark green or navy blue I'd be in love with it. But I don't buy anything because it looks good, only because it performs well or it looks like fun to play with.

And hmm... to that public beta bios program from Asus, we might get an update more than once every three months now.

Thank you for the list rammsteiner. I look for a board to combine with a nvidia quadro fx1700 so the DFI blood iron GF8300-M2R looks promising.

    Nice list RAM, Thanks...

Do you guys think the 790GX is going to be the chip of choice for performance boards in the near future?

It almost looks like it is, seems a little odd to me..

Then again, Nvidia has IGP's in thier performance line.
    AMD FX-8350 (1237 PGN) | Asus Crosshair V Formula (bios 1703) | G.Skill 2133 CL9 @ 2230 9-11-10 | Sapphire HD 6870 | Samsung 830 128Gb SSD / 2 WD 1Tb Black SATA3 storage | Corsair TX750 PSU

I understood it as the 790GX is the topend igp solution with its ATI3300 chip, not best overall performance board (or were you ironic? DaveB)

IMHO Enthusiast will go for 790FX+SB750 mobos, and DFI's baby looks great. 790GX is the answer to the new NF line, but with better GFX performances...

In combination with a pcie gfx card nvidia's new chipset has this hybrid sli feature called hybrid power (power off gfx if unused and use onboard igp).

Nvidia does not list any quadro fx card supporting this feature, does someone know if their latest serie (570,1700,...) does support hybrid power?
EDIT: Nevermind it's a vista only thing, so of no interest for the next two years or so.

As you found out it only works in Vista (and will only ever work in Vista and above), it also only works with the 9800GTX, 9800GX2, GTX 260, GTX 280 with HybridPower mode.

I use it on my system, and must say its a pretty fantastic invention. The GPUs shut down *completely*, the fans don't spin anymore. Much less heat, quieter (slightly), and significantly lower power consumption. The HDMI output is also automatic which is pretty cool. Basically I hooked it up to my TV without turning the PC off or anything, and I could set up the correct res straight away and sound was routed through HDMI.

Sorry if I'm gushing a bit, but I am so impressed with this chipset. Rarely does a chipset cause more than a slight 'oh really?', but this one has some very underrated features because its for AMD instead of Intel.

I think it's a pretty cool feature also. AMD supports a similar feature but i'm unsure if that is already part of the 790GX chipset.

Whether that nice looking board is actually the A79A-S, I dont know. Think the A79A-S I saw before looked like the A7DA, but maybe they changed it.

Ill update the list at top when ive a bit more time. Thx for the links and such, however a few of them aren't in the list (yet) because they didnt look very interesting in the end. But if people are interested, Ill add them for sure

attached is the a79a-s i have some pics from other views (all official from foxconn)

also i included the specs for the a7da-s if it follows the scheme from the other boards in this series the pcb should be blue. i couldn't find anything about the one in the article you linked with a black pcb. it might be the digital life 750a called the mambo though.

Is the 790GX comparable to the 790FX?

I understand the 790GX includes GFX.
Is the 790GX like a 790FX+GFX? Are they the same performance and o/c wise?
If yes then why not buy a 790GX instead of a 790FX.

    Anyone?

As with all things ATI, they say they have it - then 12 months later it actually gets released :p

Apparently its supported by 790, but no drivers currently enable it. With SB750 coming out soon, I would imagine it'll be limited to that with a 4850/4870. Shame really, since the 3850 and 3870 are very power hungry cards.

You taunt us.... You got it the other day?

    But haven't posted RESULTS yet???

    <insert primal scream>

Anyway we'll be expecting numbers about like what you had... PLUS some more. Like about 400Mhz more. (If the SB750 can give us 400Mhz more... then NVidia should be able to also.)

Personally I'll take 3.5Ghz stable and 3.7 unstable.

    Make us PROUD!
