    OCZ 520watt Powerstream died

So my powersupply went tits up on me recently. I have since RMA'd it and from my RMA status it looks like OCZ is planning to ship a 600watt GameXstream to replace it.

I read from Jonny guru's site that these PSU's have a ripple issue but not to worry if the system isn't pulling more then 400 continuous watts. Does anybody know if OCZ has corrected this or will i be better off keeping it on the shelf as a spare?

mmmm that card doesn't put on much load
are you sure it was the PSU and not something else that was the issue
maybe it was a faulty PSU
makes no sense why it could not handle such card

Not even close. The StealthXstream is an FSP Epsilon based psu. The Powerstream is built by Topower. Completely different designs, from completely different companies. Only similarity? Marketted by OCZ.

He's talking about the GameXStream, which is indeed FSP Epsilon.

My suggestion would be to ask OCZ if you can get an Evostream instead and pay the difference in cost. Now that is a far better unit than the Epsilon based ones. It is loud, but can take a direct nuclear strike without flinching.

He probably got an 8800GT with the power sentry bug.

Wow OCZ is fast. Looks like they shipped out the replacement the very same day they got my dead one. It appears to be the GameXstream. Oh well.

Gotta hand it to OCZ for the quick turnaround.

Oh yeah.... I knew the Powerstream was made by Topower. I was referring to the GameXstream being similair to the StealthXstream.

Hat's off to OCZ. They received my dead PSU on Friday 4/4 and shipped out the replacement the very same day. Just received it today. As far as RMA experiences go i don't think it gets much better then that. Keep up the good work in that dept OCZ. Only problem i have is i never received any kind of email that they received my unit and no email saying they were sending a replacement. Not a big deal as the RMA status page was kept up to date.

I checked and saw that the package got delivered today and called the wife to make sure they didn't just ship my old unit back. She said on the box it said "PC P+C turbo cool 510watt". Needless to say i was fairly excited. However it was just the box. Packed inside was a 600watt GameXstream. Oh well..... It's working just fine for me as we speak.

Thanks OCZ for the quick turnaround!

Yes these units had a semi High Ripple, but I had one for a short time when they came out and had no issues.
