3125MHZ was fully stable at default vcore, no pics as im pushing 3250 now with a small bump in voltage.

So looks like I was a little bullish to set 1.4V at 3200MHZ as im above that now with around 1.35V, this is not to shabby

got part1 of a guide up here will continue testing and post here also with voltage and performance tests.

3250MHZ 33C full load, water temp is 12C

    Excellent work.

(BTW:You made me spend money. Darn it.)

ALSO: not to be "nitpicky"; I personally don't care that much about minor little things, but I don't want others to start criticizing you for a minor mistake: in your THIRD sentence you show the 9500 and 9600 at stock speeds of 2.3 and 2.4 Ghz when they should be listed as 2.2 and 2.3 Ghz.

Around here WE all know the speeds... but you know how people get sometimes. I could see people criticizing that one little issue and never actually getting to the important things in your guide. (People are "petty" sometimes.)

You're right Tony Clocking of new Phenom platform is not hard at all just a matter of becoming familiar with new approach to doing so vs K8

Also I will ask this here as well is the current build of CoreTemp accurate in Reading Phenom Temps yet?

I have been using AOD with the thinking they must have calibrated it as close as they could have.

Just an update for everyone who has just started testing.

HT speed seems to have a massive impact on how well these CPU's clock. I had a much easier time setting 1400MHZ HT so the 7 multi. As soon as i did this especially on the GBT DQ6 the board and CPU took off, 1.45V looks to have me 3.4GHZ near 100% stable and 1.3V up to around 3.2GHZ.

I suggest before you give up thinking the CPU is not clocking to well you play with HT multipliers also, just make sure its final speeds are still lower than the NB core clock.

Anyone else have a 9850 or 9550 in the mail?

I have a 9850 BE Phenom on order and can't wait to see what I can get out of it.

    Tony,

Thanks so much for the time you have taken in testing and posting your results. I will run my own tests and post them when I get them.

Thanks for the HT multi tip, will see how it works on air. It might help fixing the boot freeze issue i get starting winxp.
I had to use a 8x NB multi for higher ref HT's than 250 however. An 9x multi did not work with 266MHz ref Ht no matter what voltage, 8x worked. Think i used an 7x ht multi that time.
    I compared CPU 2.8GHz 14x200 NB 2.2/2.4GHz 11x/12x200 with ram in 1066 mode and 4-5-5-16-18 timings with
    CPU 2.79GHz 10.5x266 NB 2.12GHz 8x266 with ram in 800 mode and 4-4-4-12-18 timings running at ~1066MHz.
    Everest results in short.
    2.8/2.2/4-5-5-16-18 > 2.79/2.12/4-4-4-12-18 > 2.8/2.4/4-5-5-16-18.

I was able to use ram at 1066MHz with 4-4-4-12-18 timings. Everest results where higher than with 200MHZ ref HT and ram in 1066 mode at 4-5-5-16-18 timings with NB at 2.2GHz. But with NB at 2.4GHz 1066 mode was faster.

Have you looked for the minimum voltage required for stock frequencies?

on the GBT DQ6 vcore is a little limited, i was hoping they would open up the full vid range but they have not.

DFI uses slam mode for voltage regulation so vid's are not used. That also allows half the step size VID's allow on the DFI.
I have tried 1.6V with 100.25% addon and a 15.5 multi but the system froze short before login.
What range is allowed on the GBT?

haha, well since i m not gonna set any WR in either camp anytime soon, I will definately have to agree, the tweak is what makes it fun!!

How did they fair when increasing HT and Raising Ram MHZ, was allot of additional vdimm required for 1100+mhz?

not tested over 1066 with 4GB, tested 2GB to 1130+ and obviously performance increases.

Vdimm will rise quite a lot if the dimms respond like they do on Nvidia and Intel chipsets...for 1100+ you may be looking at 2.2V which i feel is just not worth it. I prefer to run 1000 1.85V 5-4-4-12 with tight subs, and let the density help things along. gaining 1/2 FPS or so does not interest me over having to pump lots of volts

Awesome clocks Tony. ive learned alot jsut by reading this thread.

I have a question... what memory kit should be best for running the 9850 phenom in windows xp 32-bit.

    should i do pc6400 or pc8500?? 2x1gb or 2x2gb??

im considering the Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC8500 kit (BL2KIT12864AL1065)

or should i fork out a little more and go with the G.Skill (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ)

i have the Asus M3A32-mvp mobo sitting here and going to be using the coolermaster gemini II to cool it.
