70-300 In Hand! -- Warning: Picture Whoring

Well I was VERY persausive with my GF and she agreed to let me get the 70-300 (which was supposed to be my bday present in July) today. Its 6:30 in the morning, so I wont be able to get it until 11AM (store opens at 11 on sundays), but sure enough I will have it by 11:05. Instant gratification here we come.

The first few hundred shots will most likely be garbage, but I will have some good ones up tonight.

The only downside to the lens is that I will have to get a larger camera bag, but I will be purchasing this one at the store. http://www.tamrac.com/5767.htm

EDIT: Well I got the lens and I am currently uploading photos now. Ironically I didnt test out the telephoto capabilities that much because I was shooting at a local car meet outside of the camera store.

EXIF says that it was taken at 70mm. Colors and contrast look amazing with that lens.

    70mm,

    No post processing.

Just set camera to VIVD colors and JPEG large. You can see why I have no need for RAW.

Well the WB looks to be a little on the warm side, which you could correct in RAW

    Otherwise good for no PP.

lol.. no I drive a honda civic.

Soulburner: When I started shooting the sky was covered in clouds but by the time the Ferrari came out the sky had cleared above where I was. I had it set to cloudy WB, causing the warm colors. I know its not accurate, but the Ferrari Yellow looks better when its warmer.

If you look at the other pic of this 575 it has cooler WB because I am shooting into the clouds.. check it out

    another one of my favorties

hehe, no post processing outside of camera you mean

i love when the discussion gets into processing and how it isn't right...blah, blah, blah...but it's okay for the camera to do it? let's not take that discussion there though. the bodies these days do a mighty fine job processing images though so 95% of people have no need for RAW shooting...butt can save your but sometimes

looks like a fine setup you have there. i'm a Canon shooter myself so i don't have much experience with the Nikon lineup but the 70-200 is a must have no matter what you shoot. i just wish i had cars like that to look at around here...

Nice pics. Why do you need to ask your girlfriend what you can and can't do?? Don't you have a job and make your own money?
