Question What is the best choice for Q9450 and no sli or crossfire?

Hello everybody. I am coming home next week from Iraq and will be finally upgrading from my Dothan rig. I want to build a gaming system. I have already ordered a Q9450. If I have no interest in sli/crossfire should I just get a good 965 board? Or does anyone feel that ddr3 is worth me getting an x-48 board. I have the money for whatever I want but I don't want to give it away for nothing. Thanks for any help.

Get an X38/780i based board. DDR3 isnt worth its price now.

Also get a 3870x2 ($400) or 8900gx2 ($600). I vote for gx2. Even in its drive infancy, it still smokes the 3870x2 for a price.

Any decent P35 board will clock that 9450 nicely... no need to sell out on DDR3 unless you want to achieve high scores in 3dmarks and co... just buy some high quality 4gb kit of DDR2 PC8000 to have some out-of-the-box headroom...

Depending on the res you play at : if it's below 1600 x 1200 and you don't play Crysis daily : no need to cash out on X2 cards as a good 8800GTS 512 or 9800GTX will do nicely...at half the price...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
